Thrifted “Scream” mask sells for over $700 on eBay

She got more than what she bargained for.

Considering Halloween is right around the corner, a California stay-at-home mom thought nothing of a spooky mask she recently picked up at a local Goodwill.

It turns out the $5 disguise Brittany Care purchased was actually a vintage Ghostface mask, made famous by the “Scream” films, worth hundreds of dollars.

At first, the mask didn’t seem like much since she told Newsweek that it was dirty and had “several holes” in it, but when she spotted the “Fun World” authentication on it, she had a feeling “it was something special.”

The Post reached out to Care for comment.

Wanting her vintage find to go to someone who “would treasure it,” Care listed the mask on eBay starting at less than a dollar, because she wasn’t there to “price gauge.”

Much to her surprise, within 30 minutes, “it quickly went from $.99 to $405.” By the next morning, the price soared to $510, and several days later, the winning bid was $780.

With all the added fees, the devoted buyer paid a whopping $856.34 — and Care pocketed $672.62, “which is incredible considering I bought the mask at the Goodwill when the Halloween section opened for $5,” the mom explained in her Instagram video, which has garnered over 1 million views.

Care posted about the research she did on the iconic mask in an Instagram video. “I’m absolutely blown away by the resale value of these masks. I’ve always heard about it but I’d never thought I’d find one ever,” she’s heard excitedly saying in her video.

As wild as that resale price is for the mask, the ghost-faced thriller movie may be seeing a renaissance.

According to Google Trends, the Ghostface mask saw an increase in searches within the last few years. This might be due in part to the recent “Ghostface trend,” in which social media users are asking their partners to wear the mask for humorous and risqué reasons.

If the creepy mask isn’t your thing, costumes inspired by “KPop Demon Hunters,” which is now the most popular Netflix film of all time, are also popular choices for Halloween this year.

Art the Clown from “Terrifier” also made the popular costume list.

And if you want your little pooch to get in on the dressing-up fun, Gizmo from “Gremlins” ranked among the most popular costumes for dogs.
