Sabres fan tossed jersey to the ice after third loss to open season
Three games into the season and one Sabres fan has already thrown in the proverbial towel – or in this case, jersey.
After the Sabres dropped their third straight game to start the 2025-26 season, one fan had already given up hope on the year and launched their jersey onto the ice.
A fan video posted online on Monday showed a gold and blue jersey lying on the ice at KeyBank Center after a fan had presumably tossed it onto the playing surface out of frustration.

The disappointing start has put some fans on edge as the Sabres try to avoid a 15th straight season without a playoff appearance and are now one of just four teams through the start of the season that have not recorded a single win.
The Sabres and the Islanders, who lost 5-2 to the Jets at UBS Arena on Monday, are the only 0-3 teams in the NHL at the moment.
The jersey toss wasn’t the only sign of frustration among Buffalo hockey fans on Monday afternoon, as a group of fans was photographed wearing paper bags over their heads while sitting in the stands.
Some chants calling for the organization to fire general manager Kevyn Adams also permeated through the crowd at several points during the game.
Things have already started off bleak for the Sabres this season, with the team having scored just two goals in their first three games and they’ve been outscored by their opponents 10-2.

Buffalo is coming off a 2024-25 season in which they finished 36-39-7, well out of a playoff spot.
The Sabres have not made a postseason appearance since 2011 and have not made it beyond the first round of the playoffs since 2007, when they reached the Eastern Conference Finals, defeating the Islanders and Rangers before falling to the Senators in five games.
