Schumer has been open about her weight loss journey in the past, including her “horrible experience” with Ozempic, since she revealed she had liposuction in 2022.
“I have this gene, GDF15, which makes you extremely prone to nausea, which is why I was so sick during my pregnancy,” she said during a January appearance on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show. “So, I tried Ozempic almost three years ago, and I was, like, bedridden. I was like, vomiting — and then you have no energy. But other people take it, and they’re all good. So, God bless them.”
Adding that she couldn’t even throw a ball back and forth with her 6-year-old son Gene David, whom she shares with husband Chris Fischer, Schumer went on to admit that the symptoms that resulted from taking the drug weren’t worth the rapid weight loss.
She also spoke about the drug with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in June 2023, stating, “Everyone has been lying, saying, ‘Oh, smaller portions.’ Like shut the f— up. You are on Ozempic or one of those things or you got work done. Just stop.”
“Be real with the people. When I got lipo, I said I got lipo,” Schumer added.
More recently, the Trainwreck actress said she’s found a combination of medications that yielded good results: estrogen and progesterone for her perimenopause symptoms, and Monjauro, a GLP-1 drug for type 2 diabetes that is also often prescribed for weight loss.

“My symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared. My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy,” Schumer wrote on Instagram in March. “I’m having a really good experience, so I wanted to keep it real with you about that.”
Schumer previously told The Hollywood Reporter that it’s important for her to always be transparent about weight loss and her health.
“Everybody on camera is doing this s—, I just wanted to be real about it,” she said in an interview with the publication.
