‘Gilmore Girls’ Turns 25! Here Are 25 Ways You Can Celebrate

Gilmore Girls isn’t just a show — “It’s a lifestyle. It’s a religion.”

On Oct. 5, the beloved dramedy from Amy Sherman-Palladino turns 25. Following cool single mom Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her book-loving daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), in Stars Hollow, Conn., the series ran for six seasons from 2000 to May 2006 on The WB before concluding its final season on The CW from September 2006 to May 2007.

Netflix revived the show in November 2016 as a four-part limited series titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Picking up the story nearly a decade after the finale, the revival featured the original cast members, with each episode representing a season of the year.

In September 2025, Graham and Bledel reunited at the Emmy Awards, where the pair presented the award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

“Twenty-five years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered and, apparently, took the season of fall hostage,” Graham joked, with Bledel adding, “in spite of our autumnal dominance [Gilmore Girls] was actually a very small show.”

Decades later, it remains the ultimate seasonal watch, as fans return every year for the endless coffee orders, mile-a-minute dialogue, Rory’s stack of novels and the unique residents of the quaint Stars Hollow.

While we can’t hop on a train to the fictional Connecticut town, we can honor the 25th anniversary of Gilmore Girls and its characters with these inspired ideas.

Do anything fall related

Starting with the obvious! Aside from a few snowy episodes, Stars Hollow always feels like autumn. Embrace that cozy energy by visiting a pumpkin patch, sipping cider, wearing sweaters or wandering through a charming small town to channel your inner Gilmore.

Train yourself to talk 167 words a minute

Sherman-Palladino’s scripts pushed the cast into rapid-fire delivery — averaging 167 words per minute, according to WordFinderX. Test yourself by reading a novel aloud like an audiobook on 3x speed, or try reciting your favorite monologue like you’re being fast-forwarded.

Visit an antique store

In honor of Kim’s Antiques, pop into a local vintage shop and try to find any Stars Hollow-like treasures — maybe even a quirky piece for your home.

Book a stay at a bed and breakfast

It might not be the Dragonfly Inn, but a B&B offers a homey, one-of-a-kind vacation with plenty of personal touches. If you’re lucky, the cooking will be as good as Sookie’s (Melissa McCarthy) was on the show.

Try a few side gigs like Kirk

Swan delivery man. Termite inspector. Wedding DJ. Kirk (Sean Gunn) had what felt like an infinite cycle of odd jobs in Stars Hollow. Take a page from his long résumé and dabble in a side hustle (or three).

Put on a flannel and a backwards hat, and make a pot (or five) of coffee

In the words of Lorelai, “I need coffee in an I.V.,” which you’ll need plenty of if you’re going to binge-watch the series.

Have a girl’s night in

We know Luke’s Diner and Al’s Pancake World don’t exist in real life, but order all of the pancakes, burgers and junk food you can manage and have a blast with your BFFs.

Or cook for yourself and make a total mess in the kitchen like Sookie

Or have a fancy dinner with your estranged parents
