Conjoined twin Carmen Andrade and her husband, Daniel McCormack, are celebrating one year of marriage!

In an Instagram post shared on Friday, Oct. 3, Carmen, 25, reflected on five years together with McCormack and looked back on their wedding day in 2024.

“Five years together, One year of being your wife 🙂‍↔️,” Carmen captioned her post, alongside wedding photo selfies of herself, McCormack and conjoined twin, Lupita. “Happy Anniversary my person, my husband, my bestest friend. I can’t wait for the rest of our lives❤️❤️.”

In his anniversary post shared on Oct. 4, McCormack shared more pictures of the family and wrote: “One year married, just forever to go ❤️ .”

“Happy five years together my forever love 🥰 @carmen_soland,” he continued. “Getting married in Fall means I get to fall for you again every Fall (and probably fall a lot myself because I’m just very clumsy).”

The couple, who met on the dating app Hinge in 2020, quietly tied the knot in October 2024 on Lover’s Leap Bridge in New Milford, Conn.

Carmen has been candid about the curiosity strangers direct their way when it comes to marriage, telling PEOPLE in 2024: “I don’t understand why people need to know about my private parts in order [to] humanize us.”

“I don’t like being asked if I am ever going to love [Daniel],” Lupita added. “I love him as a brother. That’s about it.”

Daniel, 28, was equally direct, saying, “People are obsessed with sex, you know? And it is just like, frankly, it’s none of your f—ing business.”

The conjoined twins, originally born in Mexico, have defied odds through the years and have lived far past doctors’ expectations, PEOPLE previously reported. Each of the women has a heart, a set of lungs and a stomach.

Today previously reported that the women, who moved to the U.S. when they were babies, are connected at the torso and share a pelvis and reproductive system. They each have two arms and each have one leg.

Carmen told the outlet in 2023 of meeting her McCormack on Hinge, “I never tried to hide the fact that I’m a conjoined twin, which meant I got a lot of messages from guys with fetishes.”

“I knew right off the bat that Daniel was different from the others, because he didn’t lead with a question about my condition. I have social anxiety, and I’ve ended up canceling dates at the last minute, but I felt calm on the way there,” she added.

When the twins spoke to PEOPLE after the wedding, Lupita shared that she was the one who encouraged her sister to pursue a connection with McCormack.

“She’s not really good at choosing guys, and I was like, ‘You should choose that guy. He seems harmless,’ ” Lupita said. “Now they’ve been together for almost five years.”

“He asked about our dog,” Lupita recalled, as Carmen quipped: “Honestly, it was the fact that he asked about my dog, more than anything.”

Asked about the couple’s first date, Lupita teased that “they were really boring and they talked for hours and they were both very sweaty.”

“It was summer, man,” Carmen said with a laugh. “I don’t know what to tell you.”

For Daniel, his connection with Carmen was just as clear.

“Just being a genuine person, having a funny personality. And I mean, look at her, she’s adorable. I love my wife,” he said. “We definitely shared that deep connection of loving animals.”
