What October’s Full Moon Means for Your Zodiac Sign

The October full moon is almost here, and it’s bringing big changes.

The full moon in Aries — also known as the Hunter’s Moon thanks to its arrival in October — will reach its peak on Oct. 6 at 11:47 p.m. ET. The full moon is also a supermoon, marking the first of three consecutive supermoons this fall.

“The energy of this Fire sign will bring momentum, enthusiasm and passion to our lives,” celebrity astrologer Kyle Thomas tells PEOPLE about this month’s lunation. “We may feel invigorated and inspired to launch in new directions or carve out the future.”

Aries is the first zodiac sign on the wheel, and it encourages us to take chances and have courage. “Aries energy is fiery, confident and adventurous and focuses us on our innermost desires,” Thomas says. It’s dominant and assertive, and he says now is a great time to embrace what makes you unique. 

One key part of this full moon, Thomas says, is that it makes a very distant square with Jupiter, the planet of expansion. “This could inflate our sense of ego, emotions and ideas,” he explains. Some can feel lifted by this, but others might push themselves too far and end up drained. “Moderation will be key to managing this particular energy,” he adds.

Thomas says Mars, the ruler of this full moon, has no key aspects, which means you might be more focused on just one thing during this time. Meanwhile, Mercury will be in exact square with Pluto, which could cause power struggles in your interactions. 

“Venus is in an applying sextile with Jupiter, which often brings blessings, pleasure, and joy, but is opposite Saturn and Neptune,” Thomas adds. That’s more affirmation that some people will feel “blessed and beautiful” during the full moon, while others will suffer “setbacks,” especially in their relationships.

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries, now is the time to step into the spotlight.

“The most important lunation of the year has arrived for you!” Thomas says. “This energizes your zodiac sign and will infuse you with passion, desire and enthusiasm.” If there’s a goal or dream you’ve been working toward for the past six months, it could now be in reach. Now’s the time to assert yourself and revel in your victories. 

Taurus (April 19-May 20)

You need a break, Taurus.

“It’s time to lie low, recharge and reset your batteries,” Thomas explains. “This lunation could have you feeling a bit burnt out.” Listen to your natural rhythms, and if you can take some time off to recharge, do it. Let yourself nap or schedule a spa day. 

“You may also have a turning point around a project in development,” Thomas adds. “This full moon could also give you the strength to heal your past, let go and move on.”

Gemini (May 20-June 20)

Get your networking shoes on, Gemini.

“The full moon is firing you up to be seen, heard and known!” Thomas says. “Your social life could be popping off at this time, so it would be great to dust off your vision board of what you want to manifest in the year ahead and see who you know that can help you out.” You might also attend some exhilarating events — professional or personal — during this time that will help you connect with new people.

Cancer (June 20-July 22)

Cancer, get ready for the taste of victory.

Thomas says, “The full moon will erupt around you like fireworks. A big culmination or turning point is at hand in regards to your ambitions, career and professional life — especially the cycles you’ve been building upon for six months or so.” That could mean that a promotion, new job offer or major recognition is right around the corner.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 22)

It’s a great time to start over, Leo, as Thomas says your routine needs some shaking up.

“The full moon is energizing you to step out of your comfort zone, try new things and look at life from a newfound perspective,” he says. You also might be in the midst of a turning point or culmination when it comes to your career. 

Virgo (Aug. 22-Sept. 22)

Feel the love, Virgo.

“Intimacy will be your M.O. now,” Thomas says. “You’ll be eager to assess the true strength in your relationships.” If you’re not on the same page, it’s time to be honest and hash things out, even if it means going separate ways. Thomas says the full moon could also bring a “big shift” to your investments and other money matters. 

Libra (Sept. 22-Oct. 22)

Libra, it’s crunch time.

“Unite or break apart,” Thomas says. “The full moon is bringing dramatic change to your significant partnership in business or love.” That might mean coming closer together, like making long-term plans or even getting engaged. But if you find you’re not syncing up, it might be time for split. Thomas adds that if you’re single, it’s a good time to meet someone with long-term potential. 

Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21)

Scorpio, lock in.

Thomas explained, “It’s time to act like a well-oiled machine. The full moon will make you especially busy.” Work-life balance is at the top of mind as you try to balance all your responsibilities. You might be finishing a big project or landing a new job. If you want to start a new personal project, like planning a new workout regimen, the full moon’s energy can help. 

Sagittarius (Nov. 22–Dec. 21)

Sagittarius, it’s time to embrace the magic of the heart.

“The full moon could bring you a rapture of passion, romance and joy,” Thomas says. “Singles may cross paths with a soulmate or find that they’re falling in love. Couples can use this energy to reignite their spark, so plan something fun and sizzling!” If you’re involved in sports or the arts, this can also be the time to receive exciting news. 

Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)

Capricorn, it’s all about the home front for you right now, and Thomas urges you to dig deep.

“A big change could be at hand in regards to family, home or real estate,” he says. “Some of you may move, get a new roommate or decide to redecorate or renovate.” If any problems begin to bubble with your family, make sure to jump on them quickly. 

Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18)

Aquarius, your creative energy might just get flowing.

“You’ll find your mind is firing on all cylinders,” Thomas says. “This full moon could bring a turning point or culmination to an important writing, speaking, advertising or communications-related project.” You also might negotiate or sign an important contract. 

Pisces (Feb. 18-March 20)

Watch your wallet, Pisces.

Thomas says, “Money is calling your attention. The full moon will bring shifts around income.” A new job, raise or side hustle might appear, but if it doesn’t, you might be dealing with some big expenses.
