Addison Rae Glitters in Gown First Worn by an Iconic ’50s Showgirl

Addison Rae knows how to shine!

On Thursday, Oct. 2, the 24-year-old budding pop star appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she wore a dazzling gold design first worn by burlesque entertainer Gypsy Rose Lee in the 1950s.

For the televised appearance, she performed her hits “Diet Pepsi” and “New York.”

“Thank you @jimmyfallon for allowing me to sing and dance on your stage tonight! 🌃💕♎️ Such a special way to start October. Hope you enjoy yayyyyyy,” Rae captioned an Instagram carousel highlighting her trip to the late night show. 

The singer stunned in a form-fitting, bedazzled gold gown with a sweetheart neckline and layers of fringed tassels. 

Rae made sure to show off the dress’ movement as she worked her body every which way, not only swaying to the melodies of her songs and doing a back bend, but also sprawling across Fallon’s desk — as seen in photos shared by her stylist, Dara. 

According to the stylist, the dress was sourced from The Way We Wore, L.A.’s destination for designer, luxury, and premium vintage, and its owner, Doris Raymond.

The social media star’s custom satin gold peep-toe heels were from Nou. 

In addition to recapping her big night on Fallon in her gold gown, Rae continued to pay homage to Gypsy Rose Lee in her Instagram carousel. 

One photo featured a snap of the published excerpt: “‘I could be a star without any talent at all!’ Gypsy says in her memoir.”

The late burlesque dancer, who was born in 1911 and died at the age of 59 in 1970, was famous for her striptease act. Her 1957 memoir, Gypsy: A Memoir, was adapted into the 1959 stage musical Gypsy.

Over the summer, Rae announced dates for her first-ever world tour in support of her debut album, Addison, which was released at the beginning of June.

“THE ADDISON TOUR IS REALLY REAL!!!!!! I can’t believe I get to sing and dance for you (and with you) this Fall,” she wrote along with the announcement on social media at the time. “Are you coming?”

In February 2024, the Louisiana native spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about her music career following her debut EP the year prior.

“It’s been a joy and so exciting and so fulfilling and rewarding, and I feel like it’s always so nice to just put something out,” Rae told PEOPLE of her AR EP at the time while also discussing her involvement in Nerds’ first-ever Super Bowl commercial.
