Taylor Swift Says It Will Be ‘Hard to Stop’ Ed Sheeran Singing at Her Wedding

The entertainment is seemingly already being lined up for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding!

During an appearance on the U.K.’s Hits Radio Breakfast Show on Friday, Oct. 3, to promote her new album The Life of a Showgirl, Swift. 35, was asked if her friend Ed Sheeran would perform at her and Kelce’s nuptials. 

“We spoke to Ed Sheeran a few weeks back, and he told us he is constantly asked to perform at people’s weddings. So is he singing at your wedding?” host Fleur East asked Swift. 

“Oh it would be hard to keep him from it, I think!” said the pop superstar. “That’s the thing, he’s like, ‘I’m always being asked to sing at weddings.’ It’s like, ‘Ed, if there is a stage, you know you’ll be on it.’ He knows what people want, and he wants to give people what they want.”

She then added of 34-year-old Sheeran’s own nuptials, “He had a great wedding … like eight years ago, forest wedding, like a woods wedding.” Sheeran married wife Cherry Seaborn in December 2018, and the couple are now parents to two daughters.

NFL star Kelce, 35, has also hinted at the entertainment when the pair tie the knot, sharing on his and brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast last month, “I think we’re live music kind of people.”

In her interview with Hits Radio, Swift went on to open up about her bond with Sheeran and their love of taking to the stage. 

“That’s the fun thing about our friendship is we both love performing, and we love writing and singing. We’re like, ‘Oh, don’t make me sing … alright!’ Up there explaining to the house band, you’re like ‘‘Shake It Off’ is three chords. We’re first verse starting here!’ ” said the musician. “But that’s the thing, we love what we do, we love to get up onstage, it’s actually not that hard at talking either of us into performing at anything.”

Referencing her bestie Selena Gomez’s wedding day to Benny Blanco on Sept. 29, Swift said of Sheeran, “I saw him last weekend at the wedding of one of our best friends, and we were talking about how much we loved when he came out at Wembley during the Eras Tour, and we were talking about how when we’re in a room or rehearsing or writing or working together, [there’s] this really sort of strange mind melt thing that happens between us two.”

“We’ve always had it, we always will,” she added. 

A source exclusively told PEOPLE that both Swift and Sheeran gave speeches at Gomez and Blanco’s wedding reception. (The musicians are all pals, and Sheeran and Blanco, 37, have worked on several albums together.)

Swift and Sheeran’s friendship began in 2012 after Sheeran served as the opening act on Swift’s Red Tour, which followed the release of her album by the same name. Red also featured the pair’s collaboration “Everything Has Changed.” Sheeran later joined Swift to perform their track “End Game” on the Eras Tour.

Swift and Kelce announced their engagement on Aug.26, sharing the news in a joint post on Instagram with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.”

The post, featuring photos from the floral-filled proposal, has now been liked over 37 million times.
