Taylor Swift’s Lyrics About Travis Kelce on Life of a Showgirl

The alchemy is in full force on Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl.

From theatrical pop tracks to a heartfelt ballad, the superstar makes plenty of lyrical references to her future husband, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

On the opening track “The Fate of Ophelia,” Swift, 35, references her iconic Fourth of July photo from 2023, during which she celebrated being “independent girlies” with BFFs Selena Gomez, the Haim sisters and more.

“Swore my loyalty to me, myself and I / Right before you lit my sky up,” she sings on the track, which also includes the lyric “Keep it 100,” a phrase Kelce, also 35, has often used.

“Pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes,” she continues on the love song.

Then on “Opalite” — the title is a clear nod to Kelce’s October birthstone — Swift sings about previously being “sleepless in the onyx night.”

“But now the sky is opalite / Oh my lord, never met no one like you before,” she sings.

On “Eldest Daughter” — which receives the coveted Track 5 slot on Swift’s latest body of work — the Grammy winner learns to accept the type of love she never thought she’d find.

“When you found me I said I was busy / That was a lie,” sings Swift (an eldest daughter), who was on her massive Eras Tour when she was first pursued by Kelce (a youngest child).

“When I said I don’t believe in marriage that was a lie / Every eldest daughter was the first lamb to the slaughter,” she sings. “Every youngest child felt they were raised up in the wild / But now you’re home.”

Then on “Wi$h Li$t,” Swift sings of being willing to trade in her riches for a simple life with Kelce.

“I just want you / Have a couple kids, got the whole block lookin’ like you,” she sings. “I made wishes on all of the stars / Please, God, bring me a best friend / Who I think is hot.”

The album’s sexiest track enters with the aptly named “Wood,” and in true Swift fashion, the title is a double entendre.

“It’s you and me forever, dancing in the dark / But for me it’s understood, I ain’t got to knock on wood,” Swift sings. “Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to see / His love was the key to open my thighs.”

The star also predicted their engagement, singing, “Girls I don’t need to catch the bouquet, mm, to know a hard rock is on the way.”

During Swift’s appearance on Kelce’s New Heights podcast, fans were delighted when the athlete revealed “sweetie” as one of his pet names for his then-girlfriend.

The singer references the term of endearment — along with another name, honey – on the 11th track.

“But you touch my face / Redefine all of those blues / When you say honey,” she sings on “Honey.”

After two years of dating, Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they captioned the Instagram.
