Keith Urban returned to the stage Thursday night for his first show since news broke of his split from wife Nicole Kidman.

On Oct. 2, the country superstar, 57, played at Giant Center in Hershey, Penn. after touching down via private jet earlier in the day.

During the show, which was a part of Urban’s High and Alive World Tour, the guitarist included a photo of Kidman, 58, and their daughters in a slideshow shown onscreen as he sang his 2024 song “Heart Like a Hometown.” The song was preceded by Urban sharing a story about his parents allowing him to drop out of school to pursue music full-time.

Urban was joined by his band, including usual utility player Natalie Stovall back in the lineup.

Urban has been on tour this summer for his High and Alive World Tour, and has more shows scheduled through mid-October. He also has concerts scheduled for the Bahamas and the U.K. in March 2026.

The Carrie Underwood duet “The Fighter,” which is off Urban’s ninth studio album Ripcord, was inspired by the early days of Urban’s romance with Kidman.

Since its release in 2016, Urban ad-libs comments when performing the song live. He recently told fill-in utility player Maggie Baugh that he’d “be your guitar player,” while Underwood often receives, “Carrie Underwood, I’m gonna be your fighter!”

Kidman filed for divorce on Tuesday, Sept. 30 in Nashville, where the couple has lived since 2007, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. She listed their date of separation as the date of filing, and cited irreconcilable differences as reason for the split.

The pair were married in June 2006 after meeting at a gala in Los Angeles the year prior, and share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

The filing comes after a summer apart, as Kidman was filming Practical Magic 2 in London and Urban was traveling on his tour.

A source previously told PEOPLE that Kidman “didn’t want this,” and had been “fighting to save the marriage.”

A source in Urban’s circle told PEOPLE that the country star has “just been going through some stuff” as of late.

“He has been making questionable choices for some time now and this was not the case of them just drifting apart,” added a Kidman source.

While the couple’s separation came as a shock to many of their fans, PEOPLE learned that their relationship reportedly took a turn after Urban bought a new home

“Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall,” a source explained of Urban moving out.

The insider continued, “It really hasn’t been a secret in their circles that Keith and Nicole have been living separately for a while now. People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable.”
