A TikTok creator sparked concern among his followers after he shared a video of him appearing to stand dangerously close to a swinging ride at a local carnival.
Ore Oladapo, who goes by @lifestyleoforezzy on TikTok, shared the optical illusion to his account in August, drawing a viral response to the video which now has over 126 million views and 8.5 million likes. Oladapo tells PEOPLE that he “never” expected the short clip to receive that many views or get that type of reaction out of his fellow TikTok users.
In the 8-second video, the 29-year-old is standing directly in front of a ride with a long, white base that has passengers seated on opposite ends. The base of the ride can be seen rotating quickly in the clip, swinging the thrill-seekers in a full circle through the air.
Because of the low selfie angle that Oladapo recorded the video from, the section where the passengers are seated appears to be heading right for him. However, it safely moves behind his head at the end of the clip.
Throughout the video, the TikToker can be seen looking around nonchalantly as the glowing ride approaches him. The popular Jet2 Holiday sound featuring Jess Glynne’s 2015 track, “Hold My Hand,” plays in the background.
Oladapo tells PEOPLE that he was enjoying a day at a local festival in Leeds, England, when he decided to take a quick video and post it “as part of my content.”
The content creator and dance artist then watched the video reach millions, and recalls how he “woke up to see a lot of people reacting to it.”
Many users shared their initial reactions to the clip, as many thought Oladapo would get hit by the ride. Others found humor in the relief they felt after realizing he was fine.

“My soul left my body for a second,” one person wrote, followed by another who added, “Thought it was gonna hit you,” alongside multiple crying emojis.
A different user commented, “Thought we were bout to get another Final Destination movie,” referring to the famous horror movie franchise that centers around terrifying freak accidents and doomed fates.

Others joked, “Why would you do that,” while multiple commenters admitted they still “panicked” even though they knew the ride wasn’t going to hit him.
Oladapo noted to PEOPLE that “almost every comment made me laugh,” and that his favorite one was a user who wrote, “Satan is gentle these days.”
He adds, “the angle in which I took the video made it look like I was close to [the ride],” however he insists it was just a mere optical illusion at play.
