Chelsea Handler is always up for an adventure — and her skin care has to keep up.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, the comedian is set to pull off another of her daring stunts at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the world’s largest annual gathering of hot air balloons. During a hot air balloon ride, Handler will put Gold Bond‘s new Plumping Collagen Body & Face Serum Lotion to the ultimate “skin torture test” to show that it can plump and hydrate skin at any altitude.
“Gold Bond just keeps coming up with great ideas to match my adventurous spirit,” Handler tells PEOPLE ahead of the challenge.
The star, who is kicking off her High and Mighty comedy tour next year, explains that the partnership is not only another excuse for an excursion, but aligns with her beauty philosophy.
“I don’t have a huge skin care regimen, I’m not like that,” she says. “When I’m on TV or making appearances, yes, I have hair and makeup done, but when I’m living my real life it’s very simplistic and that’s what Gold Bond represents to me.”

In March, Handler, an avid skier, took on another extreme challenge with Gold Bond at the Palisades Tahoe ski resort in Olympic Valley, Calif. In celebration of her 50th birthday, the actress led participants as they skied or snowboarded down the slopes in swimsuits, highlighting the importance of keeping your skin hydrated in cold weather.
In New Mexico, Handler will be demonstrating the skin-plumping powers of Gold Bond’s latest innovation. Formulated with a blend of three collagen peptides, jojoba and grapeseed oils, the Plumping Collagen Body & Face Serum Lotion showed a 50 percent immediate boost in skin hydration in clinical trials.
“I moisturize my whole body, my neck, and my face with the Plumping Collagen Body & Face Serum and it actually plumps your skin,” Handler says. “As a 50-year-old woman, I love hearing about skin plumping the natural way so I’m totally down with it.”
Multipurpose products are a no-brainer for Handler, who describes her beauty routine as “minimalist.”
“I feel like less is more,” she explains. “I don’t even wash my face on a regular basis. That’s what the shower is for, in my opinion. I know any dermatologist is going to be like, ‘What?'” she admits.

At night she applies a serum, this lotion, and hits the sheets. “That’s all you really need for me and my lifestyle. I’m not somebody, when I get home from a show, who is putting on a headband and taking care of my face. That’s just not realistic for me.”
Her makeup routine is equally low-lift. “I just wear mascara and some under-eye concealer,” she says. “I use a tinted moisturizer for a little color.”

While “aging gracefully” is a term that’s often thrown around these days, Handler says she’s focused on maintaining a “youthful energy” by going for walks in nature, hitting the gym regularly and getting nine hours of sleep a night.
“If you want to get little nips and tucks, do it,” she says. “I’m not big into filler, I’m not big into Botox, [but] I do a lot of lasers.”
She continues, “I’ve tried everything that you could possibly imagine under the sun, and I honestly will say keeping your skin moisturized, being hydrated, and getting enough sleep are the best that you could do that don’t require a shortcut.”
Life is all about balance, according to Handler, which is why she and Gold Bond get along so well.
“I’ve been very loud about my lifestyle and how much fun I like to have,” she says. “I’ve also been very productive while living that lifestyle and [Gold Bond] exemplifies that you can have both things. You can have a loud, brave life and you can have a really productive work life.”
