When it came time to name her newest little one, Sadie Robertson Huff knew what name she wanted. But it took a little convincing — and a crazy coincidence! – to convince her husband Christian.
The Duck Dynasty star, 28, who is the granddaughter of Phil Robertson, founder of Duck Commander, and the daughter of Korie Robertson and Willie Robertson, the company’s current CEO, spoke with PEOPLE a few months after welcoming her third daughter, Kit Carroway, this past August and shared that although she’d settled on the name Kit a while ago, her husband didn’t immediately agree.
“I threw it out there to my husband amongst five other great names, but I was really hoping he would love Kit,” admits Sadie. “And as soon as I said Kit, he was like, ‘No.’ He did not like it.”

She says she told her husband to think about it and pray on it since she was certain that her daughter’s name was Kit.
“I love the meaning of the name Kit. It means pure or to bear Christ and I love that so much,” Sadie explains. “I pray over our girls for just their pure hearts and pure minds. And so I was like, ‘That would be really cool, to speak that over her life.'”
Shortly after, Sadie’s family took a trip to England, where she told herself that if her daughter’s name was supposed to be Kit, they’d see it on a book somewhere.
“Sure enough, we actually were going to our room one day,” Sadie explains, saying they were staying in Somerset. “It was a really beautiful place in the countryside of England and there was a bookshelf. And I saw the Princess Bride book and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool. I might read that while I’m here.'”
“And right beside the Princess Bride, there was a book that said Kit. And on the book it had honeybees all over it, which is our thing with honey,” she continues. “And Christian was like, ‘Oh, that’s just a coincidence.'”
A few days later, Sadie’s family was eating at their hotel and were about to leave when the hotel management approached them. They said the owner wanted to gift them something, and showed them to the lobby where there were four books stacked up.
“There’s only four books, by the way, in the entire lobby, and all four of them say, ‘Kit, Kit, Kit, Kit.’ And we started freaking out,” Sadie says. “We’re like, “That’s so crazy. That’s so cool, that’s what we prayed for.'”

When the hotel management came back, Sadie explained why her family was freaking out. And then the manager told them something that blew their minds.
“And the guy goes, ‘Well, you’re going to love this because the hotel owner’s name is actually Kit and she’s the one that wanted to give you these gifts,'” the mom of three says. “And she gave me baby gifts and they’re stuffed animals with the bow tie on them that said, ‘By Kit,’ because it was the owner’s brand named Kit.”
“And after that, my husband could not deny that this child was supposed to be named Kit,” Sadie says.
Since becoming a family of five, Sadie says the transition has been “so fun” but also “wild.”
“Honestly, the best transition that we’ve had,” she explains. “I think the zero to one transition to me was the hardest.”
“But this one was so sweet because I feel like everything I kind of wish I did different the first two times, I got to do different this time,” says Sadie. “And seeing Honey and Haven be big sisters is the cutest thing ever.”

Her two older girls Honey, 3, and Haven, 2, are loving being big sisters — and Sadie attributes that to their Frozen obsession.
“We were watching Frozen and they love Anna and Elsa. And I was like, ‘Do you guys realize that y’all are each other’s Anna and Elsa? You get to be sisters forever and best friends,'” she says.
“And now it’s so cute, Haven will look at Honey and say, ‘You Elsa, I’m Anna.’ They have the sweetest sisterhood,” she continues. “So for them getting another sister was so exciting. It’s like, ‘Oh, another sister to our Anna-Elsa gang.’ And so really from the start, they were just obsessed with her.”
Of course, when the girls are tired of hanging around the baby, Sadie has a few relatives she can call to come help out around the house.
“As many people know, our family does everything together. So actually, the day I got home from the hospital was the finale episode of Duck Dynasty season one, and the finale was my gender reveal,” Sadie explains. “But I really wanted to watch it with the family because it was the finale, but I literally had just had a C-section, so I stayed in the room by myself.”
“They were all in the living room and just saying hi from afar. But I couldn’t wait for everyone to get to meet her,” she continues. “Kept a little secluded for a minute just because she was so tiny and so I would just kind of stay in the other room, but everyone is just obsessed with her.”
Sadie also says she’s been able to lean on her family members for advice as they all go through a bit of a Duck Dynasty baby boom.
“I literally just got off the phone with Mary-Kate. We’re constantly swapping stories and trying to help each other,” she says. “We all live right beside each other, so we certainly do life very close and definitely receive advice from everyone.”
With Halloween just around the corner, Sadie has already thought about what she wants to dress baby Kit up in this year – and the options truly are endless.
“This is just obvious, it was kind of a given,” admits Sadie. “But I think she might just have to be a Kit Kat.”
