Gleb Savchenko and Hilaria Baldwin are reacting to their latest Dancing with the Stars performance.
After the judges gave the pair a 22 out of 30 for their week 3 samba to the viral song “Shake it to the Max,” they opened up to PEOPLE about their progress in the competition so far. While it was their highest score yet, Savchenko admits that he thought they deserved higher.
“I am super proud of you,” he tells Baldwin after the Sept. 30 taping. “I think you totally delivered a great dance. I think you executed every single move. I am not so happy about the scores, but we got our first 8, so that’s exciting. And that first 8 came from Derek [Hough], and I think that speaks value, a lot of value.”
“Derek is an amazing, amazing dancer,” Baldwin chimes in, as Savchenko continues: “And you’re the hardest worker in the room. You’re a superhero in the dance studio. I love how much you put so much passion and love, and you’re truly inspirational.”

The mom of seven also gave a shoutout to those who showed up to support her from the audience — including husband Alec Baldwin, all of their children, Kris Jenner and Savchenko’s season 31 partner Shangela.
“The purpose of dancing is not just to feel and to enjoy the work that we do, but it’s to make people happy [and] to entertain people,” Baldwin explains. “We want to do this because we want to bring joy to people. And so to have Kris [Jenner] and Alec and my children and Shangela and my friends here is so wonderful.”
This week, which was TikTok-themed, Baldwin and Savchenko returned to the ballroom after making it through double elimination the week prior. In the intro package to their dance, the author said that the possibility of going home was “really scary.”

The judges commended Baldwin’s skills, with Hough telling her she is “in a league of your own” and praising the duo’s routine for being “rhythmic.” He also said they had the “most beautiful Samba rolls we’ve ever seen on this show.”
Bruno Tonioli applauded the duo as well. “All the content was there! Sharp. You hit every beat almost with clinical precision,” he said. However, he noted that Baldwin lacked “some bounce” in her moves.
Carrie Ann Inaba offered mixed feedback, saying that “Len [Goodman] would’ve loved that Samba” and Hilaria is a “sensational dancer,” but pointed out that her “musicality” was “off.”
When addressing those comments, Baldwin got teary-eyed and emphasized her passion for dance. In the end, Derek gave the partners an 8, while Bruno and Carrie Ann gave them 7’s, and fans voted for them to stay another week.
