Olivia Plath has moved on and moved in with boyfriend Brendan.

In the season 7 finale of Welcome to Plathville on Tuesday, Sept. 30, Olivia made her return to Cairo, Georgia in hopes of making progress in her divorce from Ethan Plath. While the paperwork has yet to be finalized, she said that she is “divorced in spirit” and offered an update on her life since viewers last saw her.

“I’m living in Washington D.C.,” Olivia revealed. “I moved there from LA and signed a six month lease in the city. Just tried it out, explored, lived on my own for a bit. And then afterwards, Brendan and I signed a lease on a townhome together and moved in.”

“I’m so happy,” she gushed.

Olivia met Brendan shortly after filing for divorce from her ex in February 2024 following five years of marriage. She later introduced him to viewers on the sixth season of Welcome to Plathville, when the couple went on a romantic weekend getaway in Arizona.

“I’m very much a head-first kind of guy,” Brendan explained at the time. “If I like someone or if I like something, I want to dive head first into it. I feel like there’s not really another point to do anything else.”

In the episode, the pair said “I love you” to each other and talked about their future together.

“I just want to be able to grow old and sit on a park bench and stare out into the sun,” Brendan said. “Just be able to sit there and appreciate each other’s company. There’s no one like her, and I would never want anyone else.”

Olivia and Ethan hadn’t spoken for a year-and-a-half when she went to meet with him to discuss their legal proceedings. The last time they saw one another was also in an effort to get the final documents signed, which ended in Ethan blocking Olivia’s number.

“He did sign paperwork, but he didn’t fill it out properly, so it was flagged by the courts,” Olivia claimed. “It never went through, so I feel a little anxious about it. Our last conversations didn’t go well, but at the end of the day, I would love to at least walk away from this and be divorced.”

She went on to allege that Ethan reached back out to her a month prior wanting to finalize the divorce “immediately” after “not answering my texts, blocking me” and “not fixing the paperwork.”

“I was traveling overseas at that moment and I was like, ‘Listen, I will deal with this in a hot minute,’” she recalled. “Like, you made me wait a year and a half. I’m not bending over backwards to make this happen right now for you. And then I learned that same day, that was the day he posted his new girlfriend online. So I’m not saying there’s a correlation, but you can draw what you will from that.”

When Ethan showed up to their meeting — he was two hours late — he got straight to the point.

“I’ve got two things say to you,” he began. “When can we finalize everything?”

While Olivia said that she was willing to do it right then and there, Ethan explained that the original case was closed due to incorrect information. While Olivia claimed that Ethan was at fault for the mistake, he shared a different story.

“In November ‘23, Olivia came back after summer in California,” he alleged. “We sat down at the island in the kitchen in our apartment. She was on her laptop on the state’s website filling out the application for divorce. I distinctly remember there is one section that had to do with her finances that she skipped. I’m pretty sure that’s why it was sent back.”

Still, Olivia agreed to talk to Ethan’s lawyer to move things forward. However, when he made his next request, Olivia was less willing to oblige.

“The only other thing that I want to ask you, is will you please stop slandering, disrespecting my family in public for things, whether you perceive them to be true or not?” he asked.

“No,” Olivia replied. “Me talking about my life and my experiences is not slander.”

In his confessional, Ethan compared Olivia to Micah’s ex Veronica, who he accused would “outright lie about things.”

“They’re both liars,” he alleged. “It’s infuriating to me because what [Olivia] walked into, she claims it’s awful. Some of it may have been unpleasant, but it is not nearly as bad as she makes it out to be. And it’s also 100% true that the majority of the problems that she wants to talk about today of her experience, she also created.”

Ethan continued to ask that Olivia not bring up his family to the public, but she maintained that she would not stop sharing what she sees as a truthful story.

“Your family is a decade worth of experiences in my life that were hard, that made me the person that I am,” she said. “They feel free to talk about what they think of me, but they don’t want me to do the same for them because it doesn’t reflect well on them. And I think that if people want to be talked about more warmly, they should have treated others better.”

Realizing they were not going to reach common ground, Ethan decided to leave.

“Very well, do what you want,” he declared as he stood up and began to walk away. “I’ve asked you. That’s all I can do. Have a nice life.”

Hours before the finale episode, Olivia confirmed on her Instagram Stories that this is the final scene she “will ever film” for the TLC series. She first joined Welcome to Plathville as part of its first season, which premiered in November 2019.

“When I look back at the last 7(!) years of my life on this show, I feel so many emotions. In many ways, I grew up with all of you watching and supporting me,” Olivia wrote, alongside an image of herself. “I was a sheltered, newly married, fundie kid when the show started and had no clue who I was.”

“The last 7 years have had their respective challenges and there were definitely moments I didn’t think I’d see the other side, but I’m here to prove myself wrong,” she added. “This chapter closing brings some sadness — it is sad for me to see who I once knew, what they had the potential to become and the path they chose instead. It could have been so different. And if it had been different, I wouldn’t be where l am today.”

Olivia told fans she was “grateful for this journey and all that it taught me” and revealed that the scene was “filmed a while ago.”

“Since then, I’ve worked hard to get out of my contract — and succeeded! I have not only endeavored to distance myself from hate, bullying, but also reported harmful behavior, and tried to stand up for what is right,” Olivia wrote, further alleging, “It sickens me to see violence, hatred, and dysfunction presented as entertainment.”
