Keith Urban‘s comment on Nicole Kidman might not have aged well.
During a July appearance on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, the country star awkwardly answered a question about the Big Little Lies star and how they balance their schedules.
PEOPLE confirmed on Monday, Sept. 29 that Urban, 57, and Kidman, 58, had separated, with the actress filing for divorce Tuesday, Sept. 30 after nearly 20 years of marriage.
At one point in the interview, Seacrest, 50, brought up Kidman’s career and the many projects she had been involved in. “Do people tell you your wife is in everything? Like everything. Nicole Kidman is in everything,” Seacrest gushed.

Urban laughed, then said that she was “almost as busy” as Seacrest, but “not quite.”
“Is that something with your life, her life and mapping it all out with production and touring — that’s a job, isn’t it?” Seacrest asked. The four-time Grammy winner appeared uncomfortable and paused before responding. “It’s a job. Yeah,” he said. “Life is in session.”
Kidman had spent part of the summer filming Practical Magic 2, while Urban embarked on his High and Alive World Tour in late May. His next show is scheduled for Oct. 2 in Hershey, Penn.

Following news that the “Somebody Like You” singer and The Perfect Couple star were separating after 19 years of marriage, a source told PEOPLE that Kidman “didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
Meanwhile, a source in Urban’s circle told PEOPLE on Tuesday that the guitarist has “just been going through some stuff” as of late.
“He has been making questionable choices for some time now and this was not the case of them just drifting apart,” added a Kidman insider.
The following day, Kidman filed for divorce from Urban in Nashville, where they had lived since 2007, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The date of separation was listed as the date of filing. Kidman cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.
Kidman and Urban met at a gala in 2005 and got married the following year. They share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
