The former Chicago Bears quarterback will also be on unsupervised probation for one year and must attend a DUI safety class. His Tennessee license has also been revoked, PEOPLE previously reported.

Cutler was charged with DUI, possession of a handgun while under the influence and implied consent and failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision in October 2024. He was arrested in downtown Franklin, Tenn.

The gun charge was dropped as part of the guilty plea, per WGN.

At the time of the incident, WSMV reported that Cutler, in his white Dodge Ram truck, rear-ended a blue GMC.

A Franklin Police Department press release alleged that officers who interviewed Cutler at the scene of the collision “noticed a strong odor of alcohol” on him.

“Cutler was also slurring his words and had blood shot eyes,” the release continued. “Cutler refused field sobriety tests and was taken to a local hospital where a blood sample was obtained through a blood search warrant.”

Authorities then located “two firearms in his vehicle, including a loaded pistol,” the department alleged.

The NFL veteran also allegedly attempted to flee the scene before offering to pay the driver of the vehicle $2,000 if he didn’t call the police, according to documents previously obtained by PEOPLE.

Just days after his guilty plea, Cutler was sued by the man he hit in the October 2024 incident, according to a filing obtained by PEOPLE.

Perry Lee, who claims Cutler was at “fault for the collision,” brought a lawsuit against the sports star on Sept. 2.

Lee’s attorney Sydney Pierce, claimed in the suit that Lee has “endured physical pain and mental suffering,” as well as a “loss of enjoyment of life as a direct and proximate result of the collision.”

“Cutler failed to use reasonable and due care in the operation of the vehicle he was driving so as to avoid injury to other persons using the roadway, including [Lee].” Pierce added, per the suit, also noting that Cutler was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
