Benny Blanco’s upbringing by his parents, Sandra and Andrew Levin, shines through in his professional endeavors.
Born Benjamin Levin, Blanco was raised by his parents between Virginia and Maryland.
Before he went on to become one of the most prolific record producers and songwriters in pop music today, working with artists including Britney Spears, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Halsey and many more, Blanco told The New York Times he was just “a chubby Jewish kid from Virginia.”
“My mom’s my best friend,” he told PEOPLE in 2024. “Every Sunday we go to the farmer’s market. I cook her lunch, we swim, we gossip about stuff. She sends me things and is like, ‘Do you think it’s true?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t even know who these two people are we’re talking about.’ ”
So who are the people who raised the producer of “Perfect,” “Love Yourself,” and “Diamonds,” among other hits over the past two decades? Here’s everything to know about Benny Blanco’s parents, Sandra and Andrew Levin.

Blanco’s parents welcomed the producer’s older brother, Jeremy, before Blanco was born in March 1988. Just as much as he credits his parents, the “Eastside” artist says his brother got him hooked on music as a kid by taking him along for trips to record stores.
Today, Jeremy is involved in Blanco’s production and songwriting career, overseeing Blanco’s interviews, photoshoots and demo vetting, per Northern Virginia Magazine.

According to a 2018 interview with The New York Times, Blanco said Sandra worked at an assisted living facility, and Andrew had a career in the “intimate apparel business.”
When his mom wasn’t working, the music producer recalled playing one of her favorite albums, Prince’s 1992 Love Symbol, on full blast in the house — while she was entertaining company. “I would get in my underwear, and I would dance to ‘Sexy M.F.’ when she had guests over,” Blanco said during a July 2011 interview with Northern Virginia Magazine. “My mom always said I was pretty eccentric.”
Sandra and Andrew are divorced
During a June 2025 interview with InStyle, Blanco revealed his parents are divorced. Though the marriage ended, the songwriter said he values his mother’s relationship advice and credits her with forging his optimistic outlook on life.
“My mom always took the time to explain how a female mind works because she was going through so many dating traumas when I was growing up,” Blanco said. He added that her resilience taught him to find the good in each day. “I’ve had some tough times, but I’ve always been, like, a very happy person. I just wake up stoked every day.”

Even before Blanco discovered Prince, he was drawn to music — and he’s widely spoken about his parents’ and brother’s love for music sparking his own passion at a young age.
“Ever since I was like a baby, I was into music, I would always, like, bang on the pots and pans,” he told Augustman in January 2021. “My mom and dad were very into music, so they played me music very early on, and my brother was also really into music, so he would take me into record stores.”
Blanco was so fascinated by music that he started producing his own songs when he was in elementary school. “I got really into it and I was making little songs when I was like 5 or 6, and then I won a contest when I was 9 to go the studio and I got to record my first song,” Blanco recalled. He added, “I was just over the moon! I just got so into making music, and I never looked back.”

In 2024, Blanco and co-writer Jess Damuck published Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends. The producer opened up about his Ashkenazi Jewish heritage having inspired the cookbook, telling Hey Alma in April 2024, “Even more so than actually being religious and going to temple, the Jewish cuisine has been such a lubricant, bringing my friends and family together in a way that is pretty magical.”
There’s an entire section in the cookbook dedicated to Jewish cuisine, with recipes including homemade pastrami and latkes. Blanco said his favorite Jewish recipe, however, is his mom’s kugel. “Although my mother is a terrible cook, I feel like the Jewish fairy puts a little kugel recipe on a note card when you turn 50. Ours doesn’t have raisins because my brother is an idiot,” he added.
In addition to the recipes, Blanco shares some of his favorite childhood memories surrounding food, including regular visits to a local Jewish deli with his dad and his grandmother’s matzah ball soup recipe, which the family lost when she died.
Sandra supports his relationship with Selena Gomez

Blanco’s mom adores his fiancée Selena Gomez so much that she wears a special memento of the couple around her neck. In April 2025, Gomez included a video of Sandra and one of Jeremy’s children in an Instagram post. The footage shows Sandra’s grandchild lying on her lap, playing with her necklaces — and the child was particularly fascinated by a locket with a photo of “Uncle Benny and Selena” inside it.
“a few memories… 🩷,” the Only Murders in the Building star captioned the post.
