Since 2001, the globe-trotting reality competition has quietly doubled as a celebrity hot spot — with everyone from pro athletes to YouTubers and even a boy-bander chasing that million-dollar finish line.
Stars like surfer Bethany Hamilton, New Kids on the Block’s Jonathan Knight, YouTube favorite Tyler Oakley and even Vanderpump Rules alum Stassi Schroeder have all appeared on the CBS series. Even Survivor icons Boston Rob Mariano and Amber Mariano proved their reality TV dominance by trading tribal councils for taxis.
Up next, the season 38 cast will consist of all-star Big Brother alums. The former reality TV stars will be paired up with a friend, significant other or family member as their partner.

Reichen Lehmkuhl, Season 4

Model and actor Reichen Lehmkuhl, best known for his role in Dante’s Cove, competed alongside his former partner, Chip Arndt, on The Amazing Race. The pair won season 4 in 2003.
Lehmkuhl was formerly in a relationship with NSYNC‘s Lance Bass, but the couple officially split in 2007.
Brian Thomas Smith, Season 7

Actor and comedian Brian Thomas Smith competed alongside his brother, Greg Smith, on The Amazing Race. The pair came in sixth place on season 7 in 2005.
Smith is best known for his role as Zack Johnson on The Big Bang Theory, as well as appearances on Fear Factor, Two and a Half Men and Bad Monkey.
Rob Mariano and Amber Mariano, Season 7

Survivor stars Rob and Amber competed on season 7 of The Amazing Race in 2005. They finished second.
The couple, who married in April 2005, returned to the show as newlyweds in 2007 for Amazing Race: All-Stars. Rob and Amber finished eighth after being eliminated in leg four of the race.
Stassi Schroeder, Season 8

TV personality and podcaster Schroeder competed alongside her family on The Amazing Race: Family Edition. The foursome placed seventh on season 8 in 2005.
Schroeder is best known for starring on the hit Bravo reality show, Vanderpump Rules. She also hosts the podcast Stassi and is a New York Times bestselling author.
Mike White, Season 14

Mike White is an actor, writer and director who competed alongside his father, Mel White, twice on The Amazing Race. The pair came in sixth place on season 14 in 2009, and 10th place on The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business season 18 in 2011.
White is widely known for writing the film School of Rock, where he played Ned Schneebly alongside Jack Black‘s Dewey Finn. He is also the creator behind HBO’s hit anthology series The White Lotus.
Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd, Season 16

Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd are a beloved reality TV couple who competed on The Amazing Race. The pair came in seventh place on season 16 in 2010.
The couple, whose showmance began when they met on CBS’ Big Brother in 2009, married in 2016 and now share two children.
Schroeder and Lloyd have appeared on various other shows, including Jeff & Jordan Do America, Reality Remix and Survivor Live. They also co-host the podcast Togethermess.
Bethany Hamilton, Season 25

Hamilton, a professional surfer, competed alongside her husband, Adam Dirks, on The Amazing Race. The pair came in third place on season 25 in 2014.
Hamilton famously lost her arm to a shark attack in 2003 and hopped back on her board one month later. The 2011 movie Soul Surfer was based on her 2004 autobiography. A 2013 documentary titled Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable also documented her career.
Jonathan Knight, Season 26

Knight, a singer, competed alongside his now-husband Harley Rodriguez on The Amazing Race. The pair came in ninth place on season 26 in 2015.
The former teen heartthrob is widely known for being a member of the boy band New Kids on the Block, who shot to fame in the late ’80s.
Cedric Ceballos and Shawn Marion, Season 30

Retired NBA players Cedric Ceballos and Shawn Marion were a team on The Amazing Race. The pair came in ninth place on season 30 in 2018.
Ceballos spent most of his professional basketball career playing for the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers. However, he also played for the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons and the Miami Heat before retiring in 2011.
Marion is a four-time NBA All-Star who played for 16 seasons. Before retiring in 2015, he played for the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Joey Chestnut, Season 30

Competitive eaters Joey Chestnut and Tim Janus were a dynamic duo on The Amazing Race. The pair came in eighth place on season 30 in 2018.
Chestnut holds more than 50 world eating records, per ESPN. He’s a 17-time Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Champion and is currently ranked first in the world by Major League Eating.
Alexander Rossi and Conor Daly, Season 30

Professional race car drivers Alexander Rossi and Conor Daly competed as a team on The Amazing Race. The pair came in fourth place on season 30 in 2018.
Rossi, who is famously known for winning the Indianapolis 500 as a rookie in 2016, and Daly currently compete full-time in the IndyCar Series.
Tyler Oakley, Season 31

Oakley competed alongside teammate Korey Kuhl on The Amazing Race. The pair came in third place on season 31 in 2019.
At the height of his YouTube career, Oakley had over 8 million subscribers. He took a hiatus from the platform in 2020, but has since returned for the occasional video.
Oakley has spent much of his life as an activist dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ youth and LGBTQ+ rights, among other social issues.
