Girl, 15, Among 3 Found Slain in ‘House of Horrors’ After Their Torture Was Broadcast Live on Instagram

Four people have been arrested in Argentina after the brutal slaying of two women and a teenager, whose alleged torture authorities say was broadcast on social media.

The dismembered remains of Brenda del Castillo, 20, Morena Verdi, 20, and Lara Morena Gutiérrez, 15 were found on Wednesday, Sept. 24 in Florencio Varela, about 16 miles south of the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires, per local authorities, Pagina 12, Cadena 3 and La Nacion reported.

The victims had been missing since Friday, Sept. 19, per the outlets.

Investigators suspect they were targeted by a Peruvian drug trafficker, Cadena 3, La Nacion and Clarin reported.

The Peruvian drug trafficker allegedly responsible the killings reportedly had a message behind the murders: “This is what happens to those who steal drugs from me,” the investigation revealed, according to Cadena 3 and La Nacion.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the message was written or accompanied with the alleged torture.

Investigators allege the women and the teen were lured into a van with the promise of a party, Pagina 12, the Buenos Aires Herald and Cadena 3 reported.

An examination of their remains revealed they were likely killed sometime early on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 20.

They were allegedly subject to brutal torture, and Morena had her five left fingers and one ear cut off, per La Nacion.

Castillo was stabbed to death before her attackers allegedly cut open her abdomen, according to an autopsy cited by the outlet.

Their torture was broadcast on social media, in a closed group of about 45 people, Buenos Aires Security Minister Javier Alonso has confirmed, according to El Trece TV, Cadena 3 and La Nacion.

Their remains were found in a well in a house dubbed the “house of horrors,” per La Nacion; authorities were led to the location using the victims’ cell phone signals, La NacionPagina 12 and Clarin reported.

The discovery of the remains led to massive protests in Buenos Aires, with special calls for an end to gender-based violence, per local media.

Four people have been arrested but their identities were not publicly announced.

One of those detained tipped police off that the murders were orchestrated by a Peruvian drug trafficker.

Those arrested were expected to be charged on Thursday, La Nacion reported.
