Would you like a snake with your order?

A family in Sippy Downs, Australia, discovered their to-go pizza came with an unexpected extra. According to Snake Catcher Dan, a licensed snake catcher service based in Australia’s Sunshine Coast, the family had enjoyed their delivery pizza and left the box out to dispose of later.

Before the pizza box hit the trash, a red-bellied black snake slithered in from outside and into the box sitting inside the family’s home. Luckily, a member of the Sippy Downs family spotted the snake slip inside the pizza box and called Snake Catcher Dan for help in safely removing the reptile.

Daniel Busstra of Snake Catcher Dan answered the call and visited the Sippy Downs home to relocate the snake. Busstra said calling a professional to handle the snake was a smart move, as the reptiles are ‘highly venomous.’

Accoriding to the Australian Museum, red-bellied black snakes “are one of the most frequently encountered snakes on the east coast of Australia, and are responsible for a number of bites every year.” The museum added that most red-bellied black snakes prefer to flee rather than fight, and will only bite under “severe molestation.”

Busstra filmed his removal of the snake from the pizza box and the home, and shared the clip on Facebook and with Storyful.

In the video, Busstra zooms in on the snake coiled up inside the pizza box and calls the snake “good-looking” and “beautiful” before starting to remove the creature. He then passes off the camera to another individual so he can carefully pull the snake out the pizza box.

Busstra then hooks the snake on a pole before pulling the reptile out of the box with his bare hands.

“Definitely not the biggest snake, but it sure is healthy,” Busstra comments while holding the animal, adding that it doesn’t matter how shy red-bellied black snakes are, “you definitely don’t want them in the house.”

The snake catcher admires the reptile for a few more moments before plopping the snake into a bag to relocate it away from the home.

On the other side of the world, South Florida officials recently wrangled a 14-foot Burmese python from near a busy road, after receiving a call about the large, lost critter.

“Not your everyday traffic stop! Sergeant Carlos Atola and a Sheriff’s Deputy successfully captured a massive 14-foot Burmese python along U.S. 98,” the Pinecrest Police Department said of the incident, adding, “This invasive species poses a serious threat to Florida’s native wildlife, and thanks to quick action, it’s one less slithering danger on our roads and in our community.”
