Martha Stewart‘s animal family has grown by two!

On Sept. 13, the lifestyle mogul shared on Instagram that she adopted two Friesian horses from Dorset Equine Rescue in southwestern Vermont.

“Two young, handsome Friesians have joined my herd. Three-year-old Ulysses and 10-year-old Stewart were removed from a neglectful facility and brought to @dorsetequinerescue in Vermont, where they could get the care and attention they needed until they could be properly re-homed,” Stewart wrote on social media alongside several photos of the shining black horses.

“They are now the newest residents at Cantitoe Corners,” Stewart added, referencing her 153-acre estate and farm in Kantonah, New York.

The two rescue animals, who once faced an uncertain future, join Stewart’s four other horses, along with a diverse array of pets, including cats, dogs, donkeys, chickens, geese, and a pony.

Dorset Equine Rescue called Stewart’s adoption an “unforgettable moment” in its Facebook post about the interaction.

“These two special boys have journeyed from uncertainty to safety, and now to a life filled with green pastures, gentle hands, and endless love. Seeing them welcomed so warmly reminds us why we do what we do every single day,” the rescue wrote. “Martha, thank you for opening your heart and your farm — and for showing the world what compassion in action looks like.”

After introducing her new horses, Stewart shared an update on how the animals were adjusting to life on her farm. On Sept. 15, she posted a few new photos and a video of Ulysses and Stewart enjoying the open pasture and sunshine at Cantitoe Corners.

“It will take time for my newest Friesian horses, Ulysses and Stewart, to fully acclimate to life at my farm, but so far these handsome steeds are doing excellently,” Stewart wrote in the Instagram post. “They had a wonderful first weekend – running, roaming, grazing, and learning.”
