James Corden says his next fitness milestone is to be “as fit as” costar and friend Neil Patrick Harris.
“I’ve started working out with Neil Patrick Harris’ trainer. So get ready! Get ready — you won’t see anything like it,” the former Late Late Show host told PEOPLE exclusively at the Sept. 16 opening of playwright Yasmina Reza’s Art, the Broadway show he stars in with Harris and Bobby Cannavale at the Music Box Theatre in New York City.

Corden, 47, has been open about his ongoing health journey, previously sharing that he’d tried Ozempic for weight loss and it “didn’t really work.”
“I tried it for a bit, and then what I realized was I was like, ‘Oh no, nothing about my eating has anything to do with being hungry.’ All this does is make you feel not hungry,” Corden told the This Life of Mine podcast last year. “But I am very rarely eating [just because of hunger].”
Corden told PEOPLE details about his workouts with Harris’ trainer, explaining, “it’s lunging, it’s plunging. It’s every kind of — yeah, I am actually rather enjoying it.”
And he has a fitness goal in mind: ”My aim is to— I don’t think I’ll ever be as fit as him — but I’m gonna try,” he said, referencing workout buff Harris, who has previously told PEOPLE he wanted to attempt a triathlon.
If he doesn’t leave Broadway with a six-pack, Corden is leaving with good memories — and good friends — when the show wraps, telling PEOPLE, “We’ve been having fun since minute one. It’s the best time I’ve ever had, really.”

“I arrived in New York two months ago … a month before we started rehearsals,” Corden said, “And I’m gonna leave with like two friends who’ll be friends forever, for sure.”
The limited-run production of Art is scheduled to wrap on Dec. 21.
