A Wisconsin teacher died after a bee stung her lip — and she was remembered in a special way by her local community.
The family of 39-year-old Mindy Ramberg, a 5th grade educator and coach at St. Croix Central in Hammond, said the mom of two died on Tuesday, Sept. 16, three days after she had an allergic reaction to the sting.
Ramberg’s obituary, which confirmed she died “as the result of a bee sting,” read, in part, “Mindy touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.”
Then mentioning her husband and two kids, it continued: “Please keep Scott, Maeve, Molly, and her entire family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Among the many who paid tribute to Ramberg, who coached softball at St. Croix Central, were members of the school’s boys and girls cross country teams. Before their race on Sept. 16, the runners wrote “Run4Ramberg” in large letters up and down their legs and arms.
“This one is for you, Mrs. Ramberg 💙,” the school district posted on Facebook, sharing photos of the touching tribute. “Thank you for always pushing us to be the best version of ourselves. Thank you for your infectious laughter. Thank you for always seeing the best in people.”
”Thank you for being such a bright light in so many lives. We all felt your presence tonight. Your panther family loves you so, so much,” the post concluded.
The late teacher’s sister-in-law, Marissa Dubon-Ramberg, also remembered her relative in a heartfelt Facebook post.
“Heaven is now brighter with her presence,” she wrote. “Mindy filled The Ramberg family with joy, love and all that is good. We hold Scott, Molly, Maeve and her family in our hearts. We will miss you so much Mindy!”

Ramberg’s sister, Tina Karsten, also set up a GoFundMe fundraiser page to help her husband with medical and funeral expenses, as well as to “support a bright future” for their daughters.
“Mindy was everything — a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished daughter, sister, niece, aunt, teacher, athlete, neighbor, and friend,” Karsten wrote on the fundraising page. “To know her was to love her, and that was her greatest gift to us. As we grieve, we also rally around Scott and the girls.”
