Taylor Swift is bringing her music to the big screen.

The singer announced on Sept. 19 that the music video for her single “The Fate of Ophelia” would be released in theaters for three days starting Oct. 3, the same day her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, comes out.

“Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan…,” she wrote in the Instagram caption announcing the event. “Tickets are on sale now. Dancing is optional but very much encouraged 💃.”

Officially titled The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, the theatrical event is set to include the world premiere of the music video as well as behind-the-scenes footage of how it was made, lyric videos from her 12th studio album and “cut by cut explanations” of what inspired the music.

The album — which Swift announced during an August 2025 appearance on her fiancé Travis Kelce‘s podcast New Heights — has already broken the record for the most pre-saved album on Spotify’s Countdown Page in history.

In keeping with her theme of “12,” tickets for the event went on sale at 12:12 p.m. ET on Sept. 19.

What is The Official Release Party of a Showgirl?

The Official Release Party of a Showgirl is a theatrical event to celebrate Swift’s 12th studio album and premiere the first music video for one of its songs. The day before it was announced, rumors circulated that she was planning some sort of big-screen project.

Swift already took her record-breaking tour to theaters with her 2023 concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. It not only sold the most-ever tickets on opening day at AMC Theatres, but it also had the highest-grossing opening of a concert film in history.

When the hitmaker released the film on Disney+, it also became the most-watched music film on the platform to date.

“What a truly mind blowing thing you’ve turned The Eras Tour Concert Film into,” Swift captioned an Instagram post in October 2023. “I’ve been watching videos of you guys in the theaters dancing and prancing and recreating choreography, creating inside jokes, casting spells, getting engaged, and just generally creating the exact type of joyful chaos we’re known for 😇.”

She concluded, “Thank you, so much, forever, wow, just thank you!!!”

What will be included in The Official Release Party of a Showgirl?

According to a press release from AMC Theatres, the 89-minute-long event will include the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” footage from shooting the video, lyric videos for other tracks on The Life of a Showgirl and “never-before-seen personal reflections” from Swift about the album.

Unlike a traditional theater experience, AMC has encouraged guests to “sing and dance” during The Official Release Party of a Showgirl — so long as no one “stands on seats or block any aisles or stairs.”

How can I get tickets for The Official Release Party of a Showgirl?

Tickets for The Official Release Party of a Showgirl are limited and available on the event’s official website. The screening will be released in select theaters across North America, including all 540 AMC Theatres, Cinemark and Regal. Fans can also purchase their seats on Fandango.

Those who plan to attend should also note that at AMC, no trailers or ads will be shown prior to the event, so plan to arrive early or on time. And in true cryptic Swift fashion, the tickets are priced at $12 before online booking fees to honor the release of her 12th album (which also features 12 songs).

Tickets for shows in other countries — including Canada, Mexico, the U.K., France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand — will go on sale Sept. 23. Release parties for additional countries will be announced on or around Oct. 3.

Screenings for The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will begin at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT on Oct. 3, per AMC. The show will run until Oct. 5.
