Kate Middleton’s brother James Middleton is weighing in on her buzzy banquet moment.
The 38-year-old sibling of the Princess of Wales, 43, took to social media on Wednesday, Sept. 17, to share his thoughts on how his older sister joined members of the British royal family at a state banquet to welcome President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump during their state visit to the U.K.’s Windsor Castle.
“Proud to be 🇬🇧,” the entrepreneur commented on a photo of Princess Kate and Prince William. The image was shared on the official Instagram account of The Prince and Princess of Wales.

The post’s caption read, “Ready for The State Banquet,” with British and American flag emojis.
For the event, which was also attended by King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family, Kate wore a couture gown by British designer Phillipa Lepley with a full-length, hand-embroidered gold Chantilly lace evening coat over a silk crepe gown.
On top of her head was her go-to, most-worn royal headpiece: Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara.

She accessorized with earrings that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth. She also sported the Royal Family Order of King Charles III and the Royal Family Order of Elizabeth II along with the Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order star and sash.
Over the summer, James posted a photo from a family trip to France with his Alizee that hinted to his sporty childhood growing up with older sisters Pippa Middleton and Kate.
While James’ summer vacation post mentioned hiking, Princess Kate has previously shared tidbits about her childhood visits to the U.K.’s Lake District, recalling how they’d go “boulder hopping” in the streams.

He has also shown his support for her in other ways.
On March 22, 2024, the same day the princess revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world in an emotional video message, James shared a social media message of his own.
“Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too,” he captioned a childhood photo of them standing outdoors together.

In May, James opened up during an interview with U.K. paper The Times about how Kate’s loved ones rallied around her during that period in her life.
“What I think is that, as a family, you learn to see and process and understand things. For her and her family, it was a challenging time, and I know for us and our bigger family, it was a challenging time, but I think it’s about communication and it’s about offering support and help where you can,” he said.
