Doherty, 30, is playing meek flower shop assistant Seymour in the treasured musical, about a strange and unusual plant that feeds only on human flesh and blood. He stars opposite Emmy nominee Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale, Orange Is the New Black) who plays Audrey, Seymour’s coworker and crush who dreams of finding happiness somewhere that’s green.

Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry InchSpring Awakening), Little Shop of Horrors opened to widespread critical acclaim in October 2019. The treasured musical features a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, and features some of the most beloved songs in musical theater history including “Somewhere That’s Green” and the show-stopping duet “Suddenly, Seymour.”

Both Brewer and Doherty are making their New York stage debuts in the revival, now in its sixth smash year at the Westside Theatre in New York City.
