Queen Camilla appears to shoo Princess Kate away during chat with Melania Trump
The royal brush-off?
A video of the royal family greeting President Trump and Melania Trump appears to show Queen Camilla brushing off Princess Kate as the two were chatting with the First Lady outside of Windsor Castle on Wednesday.
Prince William and Princess Kate were the first royals to greet the presidential couple on the castle grounds before escorting them to King Charles and Queen Camilla outside Victoria House.
Video shows the President and First Lady exchanging greetings with the King and Queen.
Conversations began between the men while Kate was in a deep conversation with Melania Trump, as Queen Camilla watched and looked around.
After a few moments, the Queen seemed to discreetly wave her hand, a subtle signal for her daughter-in-law to move along.
The Princess of Wales then seemingly said goodbye to Melania Trump and rejoined her husband, who was chatting with the President and King Charles.
The royal family has pulled out all the stops for the Presidential visit.
Over 1,500 members of the British armed forces lined the route through the Windsor Grounds, while a 41-gun salute sounded from the castle grounds and the Tower of London to mark the occasion.
Inside Windsor Castle, President Trump and his wife attended a private luncheon and a wreath-laying at the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II.
The senior royals, including Kate, William, Camilla and Charles, hosted the Trumps at a state banquet in St. George’s Hall later in the evening with more than 160 guests.
It is the second time President Trump has made a state visit to the UK, the first was back in July 2018.
