The Music Box Theatre in New York City was buzzing on Tuesday, Sept. 16 as the new Broadway revival of Yasmina Reza’s award-winning play Art officially opened.

Led by Neil Patrick HarrisJames Corden and Bobby Cannavale, the sharp-edged comedy’s premiere brought brought out some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Goldie Hawn, Paul Rudd, Chris Rock, Sarah Paulson, Auli’i Cravalho, Rose Byrne, Mark Consuelos and more.

ART follows three longtime friends whose relationship is pushed to the brink when one of them spends a fortune on a stark, all-white painting. What starts as a simple disagreement over art quickly turns into a hilarious, high-stakes battle over friendship, pride and perception.

The play, which was translated from French by Academy Award winner Christopher Hampton, was first performed on Broadway in February 1998 in a production starring Alan AldaVictor Garber and Alfred Molina.

It was nominated for three Tony Awards, winning Best Play.

Over the course of 600 performances and 20 previews, ART welcomed a slew of other actors including Brian CoxJudd HirschWayne KnightJoe Morton and the late George Wendt (among others). It closed in August 1999.

This new revival, directed by Scott Ellis (Take Me Out), is set for a limited, 17-week run. Preview performances began on Aug. 28. The engagement is scheduled to close on Dec. 21.

Harris, Corden and Cannavale are all veterans of the stage and screen. Both Harris and Corden are Tony Award winners while Canavale is a two-time Tony nominee.
