A bride is not looking forward to changing her last name after the wedding.

Izzy Trimborn, a TikTok user, shared she’s less than thrilled to be taking her fiancé’s last name following their wedding — because her resulting married name turns out to be a bit of a vulgar pun.

“‘Aren’t you excited to take his last name?’ ” Trimborn wrote on the first slide of a TikTok, featuring her and her fiancé, James Inyet, smiling in a photo taken on a train.

“Not really,” Trimborn clarified, noting that after the wedding she’ll be called “Izzy Inyet.”

Other users couldn’t believe how unfortunate the woman’s married name would be. “‘Is he in yet’ is pretty dire,” one commented, while another joked the couple should name their future daughter “Arya.”

Some users suggested the unconventional approach of having her fiancé instead take her last name — “Welcome James Trimborn,” one wrote — or to simply keep her current name.

The decision to take a husband’s name after getting married has grown more contentious in recent years, as one user noted that the tradition is heavily rooted in patriarchal societal structures. But many have found that choosing to keep their original name results in pushback.

One woman shared a similar experience on Reddit. She told her husband’s family she had decided to keep her own name for a wide range of reasons — its originality plus its ties to her family and their business. However, an issue arose when her father-in-law claimed that she was “insulting him by rejecting his name,” leading to a divisive situation as a whole.
