The wild first trailer for Sony Pictures’ reboot of Anaconda dropped on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Directed by Tom Gormican, the movie is a reimagining of Jennifer Lopez’s 1997 killer snake horror flick Anaconda. The original version starred Lopez, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson, Jon Voight and Eric Stoltz. The new film’s cast includes Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, Selton Mello, and Daniela Melchior.

In December, Sony Pictures released a YouTube video featuring Rudd and Black teasing the movie, which is slated for release on Christmas Day. “Hey, what’s up, people? We’re making a movie,” Black said, to which Rudd added, “Guess what it is?”
“Paul Rudd and Jack Black star in … Anaconda!” screamed Black as a confused Rudd screamed “Anaconda!” in unison. “It might be The Anaconda,” Black quipped. “Whatever, there’s going to be a big f—in’ snake and it’s gonna rip!”
A synopsis teases: “Doug (Black) and Griff (Rudd) have been best friends since they were kids, and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic ‘classic’ Anaconda.”
“When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed.”
Anaconda is in theaters Dec. 25.
