Yankees desperately seeking bullpen consistency for stretch run

MINNEAPOLIS — If you want to believe in the Yankees bullpen, you can find stretches for every reliever that show they are capable of making an impact.

If you believe that the bullpen will be their ultimate downfall come October, you can certainly find stretches for any reliever to support that, too.

The reality is that Aaron Boone is reaching into a grab bag every time he calls down to the bullpen, unsure of what he might get out of almost any arm on any given night.

That continued to be the case on Tuesday night in a 10-9 win over the Twins, when Ryan Yarbrough gave up four runs while recording only one out and David Bednar gave up a solo shot in the ninth, with Mark Leiter Jr. (five outs) and Devin Williams providing big lifts in between.
