A mom wasn’t sure what her daughter was up to as she covered her face in Starbucks — but when she finally realized, she couldn’t stop laughing.

Ariana shared a video on her TikTok back in August of her 3-year-old daughter as the mother-daughter duo enjoyed a trip to their local Starbucks together. The proud mom was seated across from her daughter, who had a half-eaten blueberry muffin in front of her.

All of a sudden, Ariana realized that her daughter was doing something kind of unusual. The toddler kept covering her face with her hands in a specific way, with her middle finger over her eye and her index finger across her forehead. Unsure what she was doing, Ariana began to record.

As her 3-year-old began moving and removing her hand from her face and staring across the restaurant, Ariana followed her daughter’s eyes to see another man seated far away from them. Shockingly, the man had the same hand figuration over his face — it became clear that Ariana’s daughter was mimicking the man.

“POV: me trying to figure out what my 3 year old is doing until she looked over 🤣,” Ariana wrote across the video.

Ariana tells PEOPLE that it’s been exciting to see how her daughter sees and copies the things in their day-to-day lives.

“It’s amazing to see how much she observes and copies the world around her,” she says. “I thought it was hilarious and adorable — one of those little moments that reminds you how quickly kids are growing and learning.”

“I just love how she finds joy in the simplest things. Watching her mimic what she saw at Starbucks was such a funny but sweet reminder of how curious and observant kids are at that age,” adds Ariana.
