Show is most known for playing Jake Hanson on Melrose Place, a character he would bring to life across three different shows for the franchise: Melrose Place, Beverly Hills, 90210 and Models Inc.
“They cast me from Melrose Place,” Show said on the Melrose Place rewatch podcast Still the Place, in July 2024. “And then knowing that they were gonna put that character on 90210 sort of, to springboard Melrose Place.”
Like many other actors, Show got his start on daytime soaps. From 1984 to 1987, he played Rick Hyde on ABC’s Ryan’s Hope. In an October 2017 Soap Opera Digest interview, Show credited his time on the series to helping him become a better actor.
“It’s knowing that I can deliver,” he said. “Give me something and I can give it right back. Three years on a soap, you realize what they want you to do, and you learn how to do it.”
During his decades-long career, Show has had roles in other series such as Six Feet Under, Swingtown, Big Love, Strong Medicine, Devious Maids and many more.
For five seasons, from 2017 to 2022, Show starred as Blake Carrington on The CW reboot of Dynasty, marking another link with Aaron Spelling, who was a producer on the original series.
“If you look at my career and my connection with Aaron Spelling and my connection with soap opera, I’ve been with it and developing with it through the last 30-plus years,” he told Soap Opera Digest. “So, I think I’m uniquely positioned to play Blake Carrington — and I am having a blast.”
He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy

LaNasa is an Emmy winner, but the Television Academy has also recognized Show’s work.
In 1987, the actor was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for his role on Ryan’s Hope, per TV Guide.
On the red carpet at the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 14, Show spoke about how proud he was of his wife.
“I’ve watched her, she works harder than anyone I know,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I’ve watched her work and work and work, and knock on the door and knock on the door and finally get recognized for what she has been doing for 35 years. It’s just a real joy.”

LaNasa and Show first crossed paths while filming the HBO series, Big Love, in 2006.
“But my character essentially replaced hers, so we never really spent time together,” Show explained to Redbook in July 2013. “About eight months later, I was in Vancouver working on a movie, and she was working on a pilot up there, too.”
He continued, “We’d hang out with a mutual friend, but neither of us was available, so we were just friends who did casual things like go bowling. When I got back to L.A., I finally asked her out, and we went on a couple of real dates.”
The couple announced their engagement in July 2012. “Katherine is very excited and already working on plans for the wedding that will happen later this year,” a rep told PEOPLE at the time.

In August 2025, LaNasa posted a touching tribute to Show on Instagram in honor of their 13th wedding anniversary.
“Great year baby,” she captioned a carousel of black-and-white images featuring her and Show. “Love you to pieces. Happy 13. 🤍.”
LaNasa was previously wed to Dennis Hopper and French Stewart, while Show was married to Pollyanna McIntosh.
They have a daughter

Juggling two actors’ busy schedules can prove quality time challenging, but in August 2013, Show revealed to PEOPLE how he and LaNasa make sure to “get together in the same city and in the same bed at least once every 10 days — no more than 10 days go by.”
“So I’ll fly to see her, she’ll fly to see me — when I was doing Maids, we were shooting in Atlanta and she was doing Deception in New York, so I would just stay in New York and fly back to Atlanta, and work a couple of days and then fly back up. I must’ve made that trip about 16 times,” he continued.
Even though they might not see each other as often while filming, Show shared that they talk “three or four times” a day, most days.
“We would never go a whole day without talking!” he added.

“He’s been with me through a lot. He’s done a lot of self-tapes with me,” LaNasa said, referring to her at-home auditions. “Thank you, Grant, for the 10,000 self tapes we made in the dining room after we put the kid to sleep.”
“That really was my life until I got The Pitt. So amazing,” she explained.
