Mel B Reveals Why She Didn’t ‘Expect’ Spice Girls Pals Emma Bunton and Mel C to Attend Her Wedding

Melanie “Mel B” Brown revealed she didn’t “expect” her former Spice Girls bandmates to be at her wedding to hair stylist Rory McPhee.

In an interview with the New York Post, Mel B, 50, shared that her new husband was in charge of the guest list. “I didn’t expect any of them to come, to be honest, because it was a very intimate, private thing, and I know everybody’s busy,” Mel B told the outlet.

She confessed she didn’t know “Baby Spice” Emma Bunton and “Sporty Spice” Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm were attending the wedding until she saw them at the ceremony.

Bunton attended the couple’s first ceremony on July 5, where Mel B and McPhee said their “I dos” inside The Crypt of St. Paul’s Cathedral. A star-studded reception at the Shangri-La Hotel inside The Shard in London, England, followed their nuptials.

Mel C later attended the couple’s second ceremony, held at Selman Marrakech in Morocco on Aug. 3. While Victoria Beckham, aka “Posh Spice,” was unable to attend because she “was busy,” Mel B shared that “she sent me lots of gifts.”

Meanwhile, Mel B said “Ginger Spice” Geri Halliwell-Horner was “off with Formula 1.”

Following the Moroccan ceremony, Mel C, 51, commented on Mel B and McPhee’s photo, writing, “What a weekend! So happy we got to share it with you.”

For their first ceremony, McPhee, 37, wore a kilt in McPhee tartan in honor of his Scottish roots, while Mel B wore an ivory custom wedding dress from Josephine Scott. The strapless corset gown had a sheer illusion jacket embellished with pearls, and was paired with a cathedral veil.

Caroline Black, the owner of Evelie Bridal Boutiques in London, helped the musician find her perfect dress.

“Mel was a dream to work with, bringing her own sense of style to the occasion,” she told PEOPLE in July.

For the ceremony in Morocco, Mel B wore a a red gown while McPhee opted for a classic black and white tuxedo.

McPhee proposed to Mel B in 2022 while they were on a getaway in Berkshire, after the pair had been dating for three years.

Mel B previously swore she’d never wed again following her two divorces. She was previously married to Jimmy Gulzar and Stephen Belafonte. But meeting McPhee changed her plans.

“I was like, ‘I’m never going to get married again. Never, never, never. I’m never having a relationship. I’m fine by myself. I want to raise my kids, put my head down and work, and that’s it. And then… never can say never, can you?” Mel B, who shares daughter Phoenix, 26, with Gulzar, daughter Madison, 13, with Belafonte, and daughter Angel, 18, with ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy — told PEOPLE in March 2024.

She continued at the time, “I believe in love, and clearly the other two marriages turned out to be not love, from their angle. So I feel like I’ve really missed out, and now I’ve got this opportunity to be properly in love with a really good guy who I know loves me for me, who’s known me before I was a Spice Girl, why wouldn’t I do that?”
