J.J. McCarthy’s fiancée shares new photo of baby boy after giving birth

New parents J.J. McCarthy and Katya Kuropas are adjusting to life as a family of three — err, five.

One day after announcing the birth of their first child, son Rome Micah McCarthy, the new Vikings quarterback and his fiancée took to Instagram to share new photos of the bundle of joy with his fur “brothers,” Marley and Rocky McCarthy.

“Marley, Rocky & Rome … that works! I think we’ll keep him,” the caption of Saturday’s post read.

Kuropas announced Rome’s birth on Friday — four days after McCarthy led the Vikings to a stunning comeback win over the Bears in his first NFL start.

“Welcome to the world Rome Micah McCarthy,” new mom Kuropas gushed on Instagram. “The sweetest, most perfect gift from God!! We are so unbelievably blessed to be your parents.”

McCarthy and Kuropas revealed in May that they were expecting. They’ve been engaged since January 2024.

The 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, McCarthy missed all of his rookie season as he worked his way back from a knee injury.

Minnesota went 14-3 in the regular season, thanks in part to a rejuvenated Sam Darnold, who signed with the Seahawks in free agency.

McCarthy made his highly anticipated debut on the road in primetime Monday, when he shook off a rocky three quarters to rally for a 27-24 win.

The former Michigan quarterback threw for two touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for a score.

“I felt poise from the very beginning,” said Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell, who told McCarthy at halftime, “You are going to bring us back to win this game.”

It was the confidence booth that shifted the momentum and inspired McCarthy.

“Any kind of compliments or belief like that, it means the world. That just gave me the confidence to go out there and just execute the ball plays and have a fast arm and make quick, decisive decisions. And it worked out,” he said postgame.

The Vikings host the Falcons this week on “Sunday Night Football.”
