Last person to speak to Charlie Kirk admits to twisted irony in arguing the left is non-violent seconds before assassination
The last person to debate Charlie Kirk seconds before he was assassinated on stage at Utah Valley University event Wednesday acknowledged the twisted irony in the argument he posed to the conservative star in a video released Thursday.
A UVU mathematics student, Hunter Kozak, 29, who goes by the name Hunter Stax in online profiles, attended Kirk’s fateful “Prove Me Wrong” event with the hopes of having an intellectual spar over statistics around transgender mass shooters, according to a video shared on Instagram and X.
Kozak approached the mic on Wednesday to challenge Kirk on recent claims about transgender mass shooters just seconds before the single shot from a .30-06-caliber Mauser bolt-action rifle pierced the conservative superstar’s neck.
“Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?” Kozak asked.
“Too many,” Kirk rejoined.
Kozak retorted, saying the number is five.
“Counting or not counting gang violence?” were the final words Kirk uttered before being shot in the throat, according to the disturbing video.
Kozak reflected on the final conversation in a video shared to social media Thursday, acknowledging the irony that he was attempting to prove the political left was nonviolent right before Kirk was graphically killed in front of the crowd.
While the ideology of the assassin is not yet known, a rifle recovered near the scene contained ammo engraved with “transgender and anti-fascist ideology,” according to preliminary reports from law enforcement sources. A Justice Department source later said the agency couldn’t substantiate those details.
“People have obviously pointed out the irony that I was — that the point I’m trying to make is how peaceful the left was right before he got shot,” Kozak said in the clip. “And that only makes sense if we stay peaceful.”
Stay up to date on the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk
The empathetic, debate-hungry college student lambasted ghouls on the political left who were celebrating in the wake of the culture-shaking assassination and even calling for violence against other conservative figures.
“First off, you sick f–king psychos that think this is the answer, it’s not,” he said to the bloodthirsty trolls, close to tears.
“I’m on the record with how much I disagree with Charlie Kirk, but he’s still a human being. Have we forgotten that? Are we crazy?” he said in the video.
“Charlie had two kids and a wife, and not to make this about me, but I have two kids and a wife and if my 1-year-old boy, like his 1-year-old boy, would grow up without memories of his dad…it’s a tragedy,” the emotional father stated, hand on his forehead.
“I stand by so little of everything that he said, but one of the things that he stood by was conversation.”
Kirk’s body was escorted in Air Force Two from Utah to his church in Phoenix, Arizona, where he lived with his widow, Erika Frantzve, their 3-year-old daughter, and 1-year-old son.
His assassin is still at large.
Photos of the person of interest in the public murder were circulated by the FBI, which continued its manhunt for the killer late Thursday.
