Prince Harry is back in the U.K., and many are wondering if the trip to his home country will include a visit with his father, King Charles.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, arrived in the U.K. on Monday, Sept. 8, and was photographed traveling in a car. After landing at London’s Heathrow Airport, he traveled to Windsor Castle to pay his respects to his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth on the third anniversary of her death.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry confirmed to PEOPLE that he visited the burial place of the late monarch at St. George’s Chapel to lay a wreath of flowers in her memory.
Despite the emotional anniversary, a source told PEOPLE that Harry arrived in the U.K. in a “positive” mood. “He’s in a really good headspace and looking forward to seeing everyone from his charities and the causes he cares about,” the source said.
On Monday, Prince Harry is set to attend the WellChild Awards, supporting his longtime charity for seriously ill children.
It remains to be seen if Harry will reunite with King Charles, 76, during his trip. The father and son haven’t seen each other since February 2024, when Harry traveled from his California home to the U.K. after the monarch’s cancer diagnosis news.
However, in an apparent olive branch, Prince Harry’s aides and one of the King’s key staffers met for the first time in July.
“It was a good first step,” an insider told PEOPLE at the time. “It is always better to be talking.”

A major hurdle in the rift between Prince Harry and his family has been the legal case the Duke of Sussex was fighting against the U.K. government over the removal of his official, taxpayer-funded security, an appeal he lost in May. Immediately after the appeal decision was made, the Duke of Sussex spoke to BBC News and said he “would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”
“Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” he continued.
Prince Harry said in the same interview that his security issues “could be resolved” through King Charles.
“There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” he said. “Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him. Not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts to do what is necessary.”
The palace has consistently denied that the King has the power to have Harry’s security reinstated.
In the BBC interview, Prince Harry also said that he “can’t see a world” where he would bring Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, back to the U.K. given the security concerns.

Prince Harry has returned to the U.K. on several occasions since his last meeting with the King. He attended a service marking the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in May 2024 and attended the 2024 WellChild Awards in London. He was in the U.K. earlier this year for the appeal hearing on his security.
The Duke of Sussex also made a private visit to his home country in the summer of 2024 to attend the memorial service for his uncle Lord Robert Fellowes. Prince William also attended the service, but the brothers reportedly avoided each other.
