Iconic ’90s nightclub The Roxbury is making its return

Soon you can have a night at The Roxbury.

The iconic Los Angeles nightclub popular amongst the stars in the ’90s is making its return, Page can exclusively reveal.

We’re told the legendary Sunset Strip hotspot — originally attracting celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jon Bon Jovi and Naomi Campbell — will have a new home in San Diego.

The Roxbury’s original proprietor, Elie Samaha, has partnered with Jim Valdez, founder of Cowboy Cantina, to resurrect the exclusive venue.

“The Roxbury isn’t just a nightclub — it’s a cultural time machine,” Samaha told Page Six.

“We’re bringing back the energy, style, and excitement that made the original [club] iconic, and delivering it with a bold, contemporary twist.”

He added, “San Diego is the perfect city to relaunch this brand and set a new standard for nightlife.”

We hear the reimagined space will feature a dynamic fusion of “retro nostalgia and modern luxury” while also capturing the original spirit of the starry mainstay.

With an occupancy of 400 people, the recamped club will feature floor-to-ceiling LED walls, a state-of-the-art sound system and luxurious private lounges for a more VIP experience. Partiers can expect immersive entertainment, cutting-edge technology and a fresh lineup of world-class DJs.

The club is set to open its doors Sept. 13 in San Diego’s buzzy Gaslamp Quarter.

“San Diego’s nightlife — especially in the Gaslamp — is thriving, innovative, and more popular than ever,” Valdez said. “Our location sits at the very heart of it all, in one of the city’s most iconic spaces, right in Nightlife Central.”

Samaha and Valdes hope to expand into LA and New York City eventually.

Known for its long entry lines and difficult door, The Roxbury became a playground for the glitterati from 1991 to 1996. Notable A-list guests in the past included Patrick Dempsey, Tori Spelling, Shannen Doherty, Mark Wahlberg, Clint Eastwood and Denzel Washington.

The nightclub famously served as the backdrop for Madonna’s famous “Deeper and Deeper” music video in 1992.

The Roxbury also inspired the recurring “Saturday Night Live” skit series called “The Roxbury Guys,” which was based on the trendy club and starred Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan. The comedians portrayed two guys who would go to the nightclub and (unsuccessfully) try to pick up women while bobbing their heads to Haddaway’s 2018 song, “What Is Love.

In 1998, Ferrell and Kattan released a film based on the sketch called “A Night At The Roxbury” — ultimately solidifying The Roxbury’s footprint in pop culture.
