“I’m single, so everybody’s sexy right now,” Simpson added with a laugh, before listing Charlie Hunnam, James Franco and Jamie Dornan as her top picks.
“There are a lot of hotties… There are a lot of cute guys out there,” she said.
Simpson and estranged husband Eric Johnson announced their separation in January after 10 years of marriage. The couple tied the knot in July 2014. They met through a mutual friend in 2010.
The two share three kids: daughters Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 13, and Birdie Mae, 6, and son Ace Knute, 12.
In August, Simpson and Johnson were spotted in Las Vegas to support Jessica’s sister Ashlee Simpson as she kicked off her I Am Me residency at Voltaire at The Venetian Resort.
The “Irresistible” singer, who presented at the music award show, recalled the special occasion and said she’s “so proud” of her younger sister.
“Vegas was so fun. Just her being up there and seeing her and all of her glory, I could not be more proud of my sister,” she said.

“Nashville Canyon: Pt 2 is OUT NOW! This continuation of Nashville Canyon: Pt 1 is my heart laid bare. It’s about healing, honesty, and finding strength in vulnerability. It’s raw, it’s real, it’s me steppin’ further into the purpose of my heart as an artist,” she wrote on Instagram.
The 2025 MTV VMAs air live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and MTV. The ceremony will also stream on Paramount+.
