Lady Gaga accepted her Artist of the Year win at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards with a special shoutout to her fiancé.

The “Abracadabra” singer, 39, took home one of the night’s biggest awards on Sunday, Sept. 7, and dedicated the victory to fiancé Michael Polansky, 41, to whom she was engaged last year.

“To my partner in all things, Michael, creating this year with you was a beautiful, beautiful dream,” she said. “And you have been my partner every step of the way. I dedicate this to you, to my love.”

With that, Gaga — who headed into the night as the most-nominated artist with 12 nods — made her exit from the VMAs, telling the crowd that she had to hustle back to Manhattan to get to Madison Square Garden, where she is performing a show on her Mayhem Ball tour.

The star pre-taped her VMAs performance at an MSG show the night before, and it is set to air at some point during the show.

During her speech, she also dedicated the win to the audience.

“Thank you, little monsters, my fans, for always supporting me and always supporting the monster in me,” she said.

Gaga previously said it was Polansky who encouraged her to lean back into the “joy” of pop music, which ultimately led to the creation of her most recent album Mayhem. He is credited as a writer on a number of tracks, including “Disease” and “Vanish into You.”

At a tour stop in July, the Grammy winner also shouted out Polansky, calling him “the love of my life.”

“It’s so much more fun doing this with you, my babe,” she said, before sharing how grateful she is for the fans who have “blessed” their lives.

The 2025 MTV VMAs air live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and MTV. The ceremony will also stream on Paramount+.
