Oliver Hudson is celebrating his 49th birthday — with a little help from his famous sister!

To mark the occasion on Sunday, Sept. 7, Oliver’s younger sister Kate Hudson shared a touching tribute on Instagram, featuring a series of candid family photos.

Kate, 46, began by joking about how their relationship evolved from childhood into adulthood.

“Happy 49th to my brother — the poet laureate of inappropriate jokes, the crown prince of chaos, and somehow also the most devoted dad and fiercely loyal friend,” she wrote. “As a kid, he was basically my tormentor-in-chief (think ‘worst brother alive’ levels), but somewhere between stolen toys and stolen girlfriends, he transformed into my best friend, my ride-or-die, and my favorite person to laugh until it hurts with.”

Kate continued: “So here’s to you — equal parts menace and legend, a man who has aged like whiskey: strong, fiery, and occasionally makes bad decisions but always worth it.”

The Glass Onion actress then revealed that she had a little help writing her birthday message to her brother.

“And let’s be honest — I didn’t have the time or emotional bandwidth to reflect on all this, so thank God for ChatGPT, who basically wrote what I would have said if I had the patience,” she wrote, ending with, “Cheers to you, Ollie. 🍻.”

Kate’s photo carousel featured shots of the two siblings hanging out together on a boat, vacationing and posing with their kids and partners. (Oliver has been married to wife Erinn Hudson since 2006, and Kate is engaged to musician Danny Fujikawa.)

One fun photo showed Kate and Oliver standing side by side in their swimsuits by the sea, seemingly preparing to jump into the water together.

Several of Kate’s celebrity friends commented on the post, including Reese Witherspoon, who wrote, “Big brothers are the best!!” Chelsea Handler said, “Happy birthday, brother!!!!”

Last year, on his 48th birthday, Oliver got a little cheeky as he marked the occasion on his own social media.

He shared a nude photo on Instagram, which showed him standing on two large rocks while facing away from the camera toward a desert landscape. He wore nothing but crew socks and sneakers as he posed with his hands on his hips.

“It’s my birthday today!!! Please send your regards and money,” he jokingly captioned the since-deleted photo.

A number of his celebrity friends commented on the post, including Taylor Lautner, who quipped, “This is really a present to all of us. Thank you.”

Kate celebrated her brother’s special day last year with a post that praised the Happy Gilmore 2 star’s parenting.

“Pictured here….my bro on his birthday with his beautiful children,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Oliver in his element being the best father. Always love celebrating our Ollie.”

Oliver is dad to three kids — sons Wilder, 18, and Bodhi, 15, and daughter Rio, 12 — whom he shares with his wife.

Back in July, Oliver playfully teased Kate about her starring role in the Netflix sports comedy series Running Point. While chatting with PEOPLE at the New York City premiere of Happy Gilmore 2, he addressed Kate’s previous comments claiming he was offended that he didn’t appear in season 1 of the show.

“If you don’t see me next year, Katie and I are going to have some issues,” he joked, referring to a potential season 2 cameo.

Oliver went on to declare that “everyone knows” he’s the greatest actor in his famous family.

“If Netflix really wants ratings, they have to bring the Hudson Express on,” he teased. “That’s up to them. I can’t control this.”
