Taylor Swift skips fiancé Travis Kelce’s Chiefs game in Brazil
Taylor Swift didn’t touch down in São Paolo to cheer on her fiancé, Travis Kelce.
The pop superstar skipped Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs’ season opener in Brazil Friday, as they faced off against the Los Angeles Chargers at Neo Química Arena.
Sources told TMZ that it’s no surprise Swift wasn’t in attendance for the game as none of the team WAGs made the nearly 13-hour journey from Kansas City to support the team.
A rep for Swift did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Friday’s game at Corinthians Arena in Brazil marked Kelce’s first time playing since shutting down retirement claims.
The Chiefs were chosen to play in Brazil due to the NFL’s mission to expand international partnerships.
“Becoming a global sport is a major strategic priority for the league and 32 teams,” commissioner Roger Goodell previously said in a statement.
“Increasing international game inventory allows us to grow our global presence and share our game with exciting new markets to connect with more fans around the world.”
Even though Swift skipped the game, she is no stranger to the South American country.
In November 2023, she held several shows for her Eras Tour there under extreme weather conditions. Throughout that run, one of her fans tragically died from heat exhaustion.
Kelce, 35, shared on a recent “New Heights” episode that he and his team will go through some hurdles of their own before they even make it to the Corinthians Arena.
“I know the stadium’s two hours away from the hotel,” he shared on Wednesday.
“That’ll be a unique experience driving to the game game for two hours, the old college football way that we used to drive … we were dealt a hand and we gotta play it.”
The Super Bowl champ appeared optimistic, though, adding, “It’ll be rewarding if we go down there and find a way to win knowing that this is such a unique schedule and unique experience. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to go down to Brazil.”
Leading up to the game, it was unknown whether Swift would be in attendance. However, a source exclusively confirmed to Page Six in March that the Grammy winner would “of course” be back to cheer on the Chiefs in as many games as possible.
The Week 1 Game comes days after Swift made a few public appearances following her and Kelce’s engagement announcement.

She flew to Nashville to celebrate Brittany Mahomes’ 30th birthday and, prior to that, attended a college football game with Kelce at Arrowhead Stadium to support his alma mater.
Page Six exclusively reported that the NFL star proposed right after he and his now-fiancée filmed their record-breaking “New Heights” episode, as people were setting up in his backyard.
We were also told the pair decided to keep the milestone under wraps for few weeks — aside from telling close loved ones — before ultimately sharing the happy news with the rest of the world.
Swift and Kelce — who have been dating for two years — wrote in a joint statement via Instagram on Aug. 26, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.”
