Will Arnett Is Dating Carolyn Murphy, Quietly Split from Alessandra Brawn Last Year (Exclusive)
Will Arnett and Carolyn Murphy are newly dating, PEOPLE can report.
The actor and Smartless podcast co-host quietly split from Alessandra Brawn, his girlfriend of five years, in late 2024, PEOPLE also confirms. The former couple share 5-year-old son Denny and “remain committed co-parents,” says a source.
Arnett, 55, and Murphy, 51, a supermodel and environmental advocate, stepped out together late last month to see Sean Hayes‘ play, Good Night, Oscar, on London’s West End. The two appear smiling alongside Hayes and his husband Scott Icenogle backstage in an Instagram photo posted by Hayes with the caption: “Another recent surprise visit from one of the greats. Love you, Willie. ❤️ #GoodNightOscar”
A rep for Arnett did not immediately return a request for comment.
Murphy, a longtime spokesmodel and brand ambassador for Estée Lauder who has graced the cover of Vogue over 70 times, is mom to 24-year-old Dylan Blue. In addition to his son with Brawn, Arnett shares sons Archie, 16, and Abel, 15, with his ex-wife, comedian and actress Amy Poehler.
The former couple have remained close, with Poehler recently appearing on Arnett’s hit podcast with Hayes and Jason Bateman.
The Arrested Development alum appeared on the Our Way with Paul Anka and Skip Bronson podcast in Sept. 2024, and shared his evolving take on fatherhood. “I’m crazy about my kids. I always joked that before I had kids, I didn’t notice them. I didn’t have my first son until I was 38,” Arnett said. “Up until that point — I mean, it’s a joke obviously — I was always like, ‘Yeah, people have kids. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah’.”
He continued: “And then you have kids of your own and you go, ‘Wow!’ It really brought everything into focus for me in life and it really put everything into perspective.”
In an episode of the HBO series Smartless: On the Road, Bateman complimented his buddy. “I’ve been watching what you’re doing as a father, even when you’re out of town, and I’m like, I can squeeze in being a better dad and be less selfish,” Bateman told Arnett. “Just watching the way that you’re doing it, I’m really envious.”
Besides being a dad, juggling work and enjoying a budding new relationship with Murphy, Arnett is getting buzz for his upcoming film, Is This Thing On?, directed by Bradley Cooper. The movie, starring Arnett as a comic struggling with his personal life, will make its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on Oct. 10. The film then hits theaters Dec. 19.
