‘General Hospital’ Alum Matt Cohen Boards ‘The Young and the Restless’

Matt Cohen is joining another soap!

The General Hospital and Supernatural alum, 42, has officially boarded the cast of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, PEOPLE can confirm.

The actor, who shared the news on social media, will appear as character Detective Burrow begging on an episode airing Oct. 16. Entertainment Weekly announced the news on Friday, Sept. 5, noting that he began taping last week.

Cohen’s character will be tasked with investigating a major case involving key characters in the series, according to EW.

Cohen previously starred in ABC’s General Hospital as Griffin Munro from 2016-2019.

His additional television appearances have included Supernatural, NCIS: Los Angeles, 90210, Criminal Minds, How to Get Away with Murder and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, among other shows.

The actor has also scored a Daytime Emmy Award as a former correspondent and co-host on Entertainment Tonight.

Cohen’s addition to the Y&R crew comes just days after Roger Howarth — another General Hospital alum — was announced as a new cast member.

The longtime soap actor, who wrote on social media that he was “excited and appreciative” of the opportunity, will begin his taping in mid-September and is set to make his debut later in the year.

Howarth, 56, played miltiple roles on General Hospital from 2012 to 2023: Todd Manning, Franco Baldwin and Austin Gatlin-Holt.

Additionally, PEOPLE exclusively announced on Aug. 26 that Tamara Braun would be boarding The Young and the Restless as Sienna Bacall, a woman with “personal connections to several characters” in Genoa City. She’ll make her debut on the soap in the fall. She also previously appeared on General Hospital, as well as Days of Our Lives and All My Children.

Additionally, Lucas Adams is headed to Genoa City as character Noah Newman. He previously appeared on the show before, and also has a soap background following his work on Days of Our Lives.
