Taylor Swift will not be enchanting the 2025 MTV VMAs with her presence.

PEOPLE can confirm the pop megastar — who is nominated for Artist of the Year — won’t be attending the awards show, which will be airing live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7.

Swift, 35, is nominated for Artist of the Year alongside Beyoncé, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and Morgan Wallen.

In 2024, she took home seven trophies. Her single “Fortnight,” which features Post Malone, won Video of the Year, Song of the Summer, Best Collaboration, Best Editing, and Best Direction.

Swift also won trophies for Artist of the Year and Best Pop Artist.

Per an MTV press release and a tweet from the brand, the “loml” artist’s wins last year had her tied for most overall wins and she was crowned the most awarded solo artist.

While it’s unclear why Swift won’t be attending this year’s VMAs, Swift’s fiancée Travis Kelce will be playing his first game of the 2025-26 NFL season against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 5 in Brazil.

He touched down in South America on Wednesday, Sept. 3, per a viral video and excitedly met with the crowd who were cheering him on and high-fiving him.

That day, the tight end, 35, arrived alongside the Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

LL Cool J will host this year’s VMAs, marking the second time he’ll be serving as the emcee for the ceremony.

In 2022, he shared hosting duties with Jack Harlow and Nicki Minaj. However, this time, he’ll be running the show solo.

LL Cool J, 57, has a long history with the awards show. He won his first Moon Person in 1991 for Best Rap and became the first rapper to receive the Video Vanguard Award in 1997.

In 2023, he performed onstage during the all-star tribute to 50 years of hip-hop. A year later, LL Cool J celebrated Def Jam Records’ 40th anniversary with Public Enemy.

At this year’s ceremony, his song “Murdergram Deaux” featuring Eminem from LL Cool J’s 2024 album The Force is nominated in the Best Hip-Hop category

The 2025 MTV VMAs air live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and MTV. The ceremony will also stream on Paramount+.
