Danny Reagan is already meeting some new acquaintances in Bean Town — even at apparent historical reenactments.
Donnie Wahlberg stars in the latest teaser for Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue, which dropped on Thursday, Sept 4, as his longtime NYPD officer character comes face-to-face with Sonequa Martin-Green’s Detective Lena Silver after something of a misunderstanding between the pair.
In the latest look at Boston Blue, Danny gets adjusted to life in Boston and chases after a suspect, before he and Lena meet for the first time with a weapon drawn.

The clip kicks off with Danny darting after a man on the run and attempting to climb a fence in the process, before he hears the words, “Boston PD, stop where you are.”
While turning around, he’s introduced to Lena, who asks him why he’s running from a crime scene.
“I was chasing the suspect, I’m detective Daniel Raegan NYPD. My shield is in my front chest pocket,” he says, as Lena asks him if he misspoke when referring to his badge.
“Where I’m from, it’s a shield,” he quips.

Elsewhere in the minute-long preview, Wahlberg’s character touts his reputation for “getting things done,” takes a ride with Lena and comes in contact with a man who found a body — who just so happens to be dressed in regalia straight out of the 18th century.
The duo have also come up with snappy nicknames for each other: “Brooklyn” and “Bean Town.”
“Only in Boston,” Danny says at one point.
With Danny now in Boston, the appropriately titled Boston Blue follows him as he takes on a position with Boston Police Department. Per an official logline, Martin-Green‘s character is his new partner, a detective and also the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family. The series is billed as a “universe expansion” of Blue Bloods, which followed the Reagan family and ran for 14 seasons on CBS from 2010 to 2024.
The series premiere gives fans a look at Danny as he teams up with Lena to investigate a “deadly fire at a tech company,” per CBS.
“As they dig deeper, they uncover a complex web of secrets involving facial recognition technology, family ties and a search for justice that brings the Silver and Reagan families closer together,” a synopsis reads.
Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, Gloria Reuben and Ernie Hudson fill out the cast, while Bridget Moynahan comes back as Blue Bloods‘ Erin Reagan for a guest role in the series premiere. “So excited to carry on the tradition, to share so many surprises, to answer some unanswered questions and to welcome all of you — to #BostonBlue,” Wahlberg wrote on Instagram back in March.
