The Hilariously Horny Mark Consuelos Reacts to Kelly Ripa Reading About a “Sex Recession” on ‘Live’: “Well, We Are Gonna Break That Average This Weekend”
Things got silly and slightly steamy on Friday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.
During this morning’s installment, Kelly Ripa read that “Americans are having less sex than ever.”
Mark Consuelos quipped, “Come on!”
After Ripa added that “there is a sex recession,” as Live EP Michael Gelman proposed, “A sex-cession?”
Ripa echoed, “A sex-cession. They found that just 37% of people 18-64 reported having sex at least once a week. That is down from 55% in 1990.”
She read that “the decline is even more striking for young adults,” noting that “almost a quarter of people age 18-29, or 24%, said they had not had sex in the past year.”
Consuelos teased, “It’s the weed,” alluding to an earlier segment that named “smoking pot” as one of the biggest turn-offs for women.
Gelman chimed in, “And the phones.”
Consuelos agreed, “It’s the weed and the phones.”
Ripa continued, “The study shows that the same trend holds true for people up to the age of 64 of all sexual orientations, both married and single.”
As a smirk emerged on Consuelos’ face, he offered up a solution to improve this sex statistic.
“Well, we’re gonna break that average this weekend. Me and you, kiddo,” he teased, as the audience erupted into applause. “Yeah! Right?”
Ripa hilariously replied, “Who is this we you speak of?”
As the co-host couple burst into laughter, Consuelos joked, “You got a mouse in your pocket?”
