Long Island athletes clamoring for a bite at Vincent’s Clam Bar

It’s a care package every college kid dreams of.

Vincent’s Clam Bar, a popular Long Island Italian restaurant that is a must-stop shop for collegiate athletes, is catering to a local big three: Hofstra, Adelphi, and St. John’s Universities, as players and students alike can’t get enough of the longtime establishment with school back in session.

“We’re becoming their go-to,” Vincent’s marketing director, Anthony Gentile, told The Post days ahead of feeding Hofstra’s freshmen orientation.

While Adelphi is the most recent school to sign on and do business with the saucy joint — which now sells the red stuff by the jar at several Long Island Walmarts — Vincent’s made headlines for hosting the Johnnies and men’s basketball coach Rick Pitino for selection Sunday earlier this year.

“I believe the amount was 375 people,” Gentile said of customers coming in and out of the Carle Place restaurant to meet their heroes just over the Queens border.

Even opponents of nearby Hofstra’s teams routinely stop in for a post-game bite — and a group picture with owner Bobby Marisi in front of the eatery’s well-known green and red facade.
