Where Is Fred Savage Now? Inside the Disgraced Former Child Star’s Life Now

NEED TO KNOW

  • Fred Savage starred in The Wonder Years from 1988 to 1993
  • The famed child actor has faced multiple misconduct lawsuits over the years on both The Wonder Years and the 2022 reboot
  • After being fired, Savage took a step back from acting and started a watch authentication company

Fred Savage was a household name before he turned 18.

The child star rose to fame in 1988 for playing Kevin Arnold on the comedy-drama series The Wonder Years, and by the time the show wrapped in 1993, he had earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

Though he went on to act in series like Working and The Grinder — even guest-starring on younger brother Ben Savage’s hit sitcom Boy Meets World — Savage’s comedy legacy has been marred by multiple misconduct allegations over the years.

In 1993, a costume designer filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against then-16-year-old Savage and his then-20-year-old costar Jason Hervey, Vanity Fair reported. Nearly three decades later, he was fired from ABC’s The Wonder Years reboot after six women on the show’s crew accused him of sexual misconduct.

The Princess Bride actor denied the sexual misconduct claims in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. He has not yet responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Savage has only returned to the screen once since the allegations. In February 2025, he announced in an interview with The New York Times that he had founded a watch authentication business.

So, where is Fred Savage now? Here’s everything to know about the former child star’s life since The Wonder Years and his multiple misconduct allegations.

Savage is a former child star who had his breakout role in the 1987 film The Princess Bride. At the age of 12, he signed on to play the protagonist in the coming-of-age series set in the ’60s and ’70s titled The Wonder Years

After the show wrapped, he shifted his work off-screen and directed episodes for shows like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Black-ish, Modern Family and 2 Broke Girls.

Though Savage initially directed and was the executive producer of the 2022 The Wonder Years reboot, he was fired before the show’s second season due to sexual misconduct allegations.

During The Wonder Years’ sixth and final season in 1993, 31-year-old costume designer Monique Long accused Savage and Hervey of sexual harassment, per Vanity Fair.

She claimed that while working on the show between 1991 and 1992, verbal and physical harassment from both of the young stars prevented her from doing her job. Eventually, she was fired.

Long told the Los Angeles Times in March 1993 that Savage “constantly held her hand, asked her to have an affair, and made sexual remarks.” The lawsuit was settled out of court and later dropped.

Though ABC claimed the show was canceled due to rising costs and Savage’s age, Alley Mills, who played his mom on the series, said it was a result of the lawsuit.

The actress told Yahoo! in January 2018 that Long’s claims were not only “completely ridiculous” but that The Wonder Years ended “because of all that garbage.”

In 2018, a costume designer on The Grinder filed a lawsuit against Savage and claimed that he created a hostile work environment by being verbally abusive and having a reputation for tormenting female crew members. The actor denied the allegations, and the case was later dismissed, per The Hollywood Reporter

Two months after Savage’s abrupt firing from The Wonder Years reboot in 2022, six female crew members accused him of sexual harassment. The Hollywood Reporter published their accounts, which included one woman’s claim that the actor waited for her outside of a restroom and forcefully pushed her against a wall and kissed her.

Another allegation detailed Savage’s “strangeness” with a much younger female crew member, who moved into his Atlanta home. The crew members claimed that the actor’s inappropriate behavior made the young woman “fearful” of him and that they were motivated to report him out of concern for her.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Savage denied that the incidents in the report occurred.

“Since I was 6 years old, I have worked on hundreds of sets with thousands of people, and have always strived to contribute to an inclusive, safe and supportive work environment,” his statement read. “It is devastating to learn that there are co-workers who feel I have fallen short of these goals.”

Savage continued, “While there are some incidents being reported that absolutely did not and could not have happened, any one person who feels hurt or offended by my actions is one person too many.”

He added that he would “work to address and change any behavior that has negatively affected anyone.”

Why didn’t Danielle Fishel talk about the allegations on Pod Meets World?

In an April 2025 episode of Pod Meets World, cohosts and former Boy Meets World costars Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong didn’t mention Savage’s allegations when recapping the episode he guest-starred in. When asked why they didn’t address the claims during an August 2025 episode, Fishel said they did it out of respect for their costar Ben, who is Savage’s younger brother.

“We talked about it and truthfully, out of respect for Ben, we decided not to comment on it,” she said. “We have still not spoken to Ben, but we know that Ben’s family are incredibly private.”

Strong added that he also didn’t think they had “any special access to more information about the Fred situation,” and that they didn’t have anything to add to the conversation. Fishel took responsibility for being the one who decided to cut a previously recorded acknowledgment of Savage’s allegations from the episode’s intro.

“So when I heard it and it was my voice, I had a fear that Ben was going to hear it and he’s going to be angry at me for acknowledging this,” she said.

Since the 2022 allegations, Savage has only returned to the screen once, in the drama series Three Women. In February 2025, he revealed that he had started Timepiece Grading Specialists, a watch authentication and valuation company.

“Watch collecting started as a hobby, because I was really interested in these mechanical objects that still worked and looked so great a hundred years after they were manufactured,” he told The New York Times. “The deeper I’ve gotten into watches, my knowledge has grown. It has really enriched my life — almost every aspect of my life — because of the people that it has introduced me to.”

Though his business is located in Dayton, Ohio, the actor still resides in Los Angeles with his wife of over 20 years, Jennifer Stone Savage, and their three children.
